I'm probably not going to be there due to being in Bath (the city, rather than the tub).  Just to let you know that it's a bumper year for mushrooms (edible rather than magic, though it'll probably be a bumper year for them too) and if you want to go out and collect some, the people here will identify them for you - sometimes within five minutes.  You need to follow their rules though.

Hello foragers,

Just to confirm, we'll be meeting for an autumnal forage this Sunday at  the junction of Arundel Road and Marine Drive, above the Marina.

To allow for participation AND have a weekend lie-in, we'll meet at 2 pm, not noon as previously stated. Hope that's okay for everyone!

I have very little foraging or preserving knowledge, but happy to volunteer pans and (small) kitchen for a preserving session afterwards, though please bring jars if you'd like to join this. Though not sure if we will need special preserving ingredients...please bring them if we do.

My number, for the purposes of meeting up, is 07913 777 076.

Hope to see you there!

Fantastic! Let's go for the 19th then.

Seems that above the Marina and towards the Racecourse would be good places to begin. Shall we meet at 12, at  the junction of Arundel Road and Marine Drive, which is by the Marina?

Chris / Kat,maybe you could lead us to your hotspots?

And a preserving session afterwards is an excellent plan. Am willing to volutneer my kitchen in Kemptown, although it's not very big! Anyone got a larger one we could convene in?

let's bring food to share and have a picnic lunch.

Most apples are ready pretty much now. I might be able to do the 19th too, though I might be apple picking with Brighton Permaculture Trust (ironically).  Do you think it's a good idea to have a preserving session attached to the forage - especially if we got stuff like rosehips?  Or maybe have one lined up for another night in the week.  Then whatever we harvest won't sit around in everyone's kitchens waiting for us to do something with them...

Or reply to the group?

I'm up for a forage on the 19th. There's a patch up by Brighton Racecourse that I haven't foraged for a while. Lots of apples up there, although I don't know how ready they will be. Also lots of rosehip. And around there are a few really good cherry plum trees. If we catch them at the right time we'll have lots of super tasty fruit. Probably other things up there to forage that I've forgotten about. :-)

This bottle's been soaking nicely for a couple of weeks now, so just
replying to myself for anyone's future reference :) I used normal
granulated sugar and whatever gin was lying around. Didn't manage to use
as much gin as the recipe said - will be finding a larger bottle next
time...

Now just to avoid opening it for a few months ;)
