Hi all,

We've had a few newbies join up recently, and we are approaching the season of mellow fruitfulness so I thought I would email and encourage people to get out there.

There's nearly 60 people on here now, so if you want to go for a forage but don't want to go on your own, email the list. Usually there are quite a few people interested, but one person needs to take the initiative. The point of the group is to learn things together, so don't worry if you don't know much about foraging, you're not expected to 'lead'.

Just to kick things off, the Brighton Brewing Circle (email me at betht...@googlemail.com if you'd like to join) are having a foraging and wine-making day on Sunday 16th September. We'll go and collect hedgerow fruits of various varieties in the morning, then brew in the afternoon. Suggestions of places to forage would be welcomed.

What other things could we do to encourage a foraging community to really get going in Brighton. Suggestions welcomed!

Happy foraging.

Beth

Hi Beth,

Thanks for this.

What a great idea to forage and brew! I would love to come along.

Anyone else up for coming?

Hedvig

Are there enough of us on facebook to warrant an FB group?  I was just wondering, in as far as scheduling events.  It might be easier (esp for people like me) to manage their group foraging dos within facebook.  Plus non-fb users can still get invited by email.  Just a suggestion.  Otherwise, I'll need to unearth my diary and pop in the 16th.

PS - totally happy to join a Brighton Brew Club.  Homebrews are an obsession.

I think that a Facebook group, as well as this list would be a good idea - for events and because it's easy to share knowledge and links on Facebook too.

Hi guys,

I have just joined the group, but have been wanting to organise foraging/homebrew combos and would love to just hook up with you guys and make it a semi-regular thing. We don't need to wait till september - the blackberries are out already!

We are under Nature Booze on facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/166480203366363/

Hi all facebook is good for me, but do we all have to be facebook friends for it to work? I am wary of being facebook friends with folk I have never met.

You don't have to be friends with the group members yourself!  We could just make a group and invite the people on this list to ask to join, and then invite our facebook friends (who may not be on this Google Group) to join as well!  I'm mindful that there is a foraged homebrew facebook group already, but maybe it's ok to have a separate foraging group?  Lots of people would want to organise non-boozy picking excursions...
