| Dear Kid Success Champions,
School is out and summer has truly kicked into gear at Brilliant Detroit. This week marks the launch of our Sci-Fi Mystery Camp. We are thrilled to offer another summer full of education and excitement, all with an out-of-this-world twist. Last year we successfully combatted summer slide, a loss of academic skills over the school break, with over 90% of students maintaining or improving their reading ability. We were honored to be chosen as the Best Day Camp in the Detroit Community Choice Awards, thanks to our awesome suite of enrichment activities in addition to our focus on learning growth.
Our ability to provide award winning experiences is thanks to the support of our donors, grantors, and Annual Event sponsors. Your contributions secure the longevity of our hubs, expand our ability to partner, and ensure that all programs and resources remain free of charge to our families. Keep reading to learn more about how you can support our summer camp, contribute to our work overall, and purchase a ticket for our annual event, which is at a new venue this year.
I cannot wait to share more as we continue to deepen and expand our impact, |

| Celebrate Brilliant People With Us |
| | Behind every orange door is a network of love, safety, and growth, powered by brilliant people, just like you. On Thursday, September 18th, from 5:30-8:00PM we’ll gather at the Historic Harmonie Club Detroit to celebrate the sponsors, volunteers, and families that work year round to create kid-success with, for, and by our neighbors. Our 2025 Theme is: “Brilliant People: Illuminating Futures, Strengthening Communities,” and we look forward to an evening of laughter, storytelling, and fellowship. Thank you so much to all those who have already committed to sponsoring our event, ensuring that encourage future generations to achieve their full brilliant potential. |
| | Honoring Cindy - Miriam C. Noland Award |
| First established in 2011 by the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan, The Mariam C. Noland Award for Nonprofit Leadership recognizes those who make a deep impact at the organizations they lead as well as the greater philanthropic community. With years of experience leading nonprofit organizations that truly serve families and neighborhoods, Brilliant Detroit Co-Founder Cindy Eggleton exemplifies what it means to be of service to others. Cindy’s work and passion goes beyond Brilliant Detroit and Brilliant Cities, her mentorship has allowed many to grow into capable leaders and changemakers in their fields and communities. To Cindy, that is what it is all about — giving people the resources and support they need to shine. In giving Cindy the Mariam C. Noland award, the Community Foundation is celebrating those who believe that we are truly better when we work together. A well-deserved honor for Cindy! |
