I checked it myself and when i ping IP address of server it sometimes throws request timed out, rarely, and the hostname throws it every time, not a single response, even tho i can access teamspeak through it without problem.

TeamSpeak Client 3.3.2 Server 3.5.0

According to wireshark the ts5 client sends two messages to the server and then stops responding and the server keeps sending data until eventually it times out. Should i send you the password somehow? I dont feel like putting it on here for everyone to see.

Hello.
My TS3 client crashes when I try to connect to my community server.
No errors, no messages, client just hangs and closes, thats all.
At the same time, I can join another servers without issues.
I tried everything - reinstalled client, removed all old settings and plugins, tried to join with new, local ID while logged out from My TeamSpeak ID - nothing helped.
At the same time, other community members joining this server without any problems.

Another additional thing, would be to allow selecting all clients on the server, which is useful for server admins, when making annoucements right now, for example to poke all clients.
In ts3 there is mass poke plugin, which now doesnt support latest ts3 client and ts5 client cannot select all clients, only one by one.

I think much better solution would be to have CTRL+A bound as select all clients on the server, maybe locked down behind some advanced settings or only available for server admins, for security reasons.
That way it would be both intuitive and fast, if needed.

Optionally - Allow to always show server banner/server icon - just like on the good old TS3.
Right now the banner is only visible if somebody clicks on the server name, which in normal use case of TS5 by the clients, is once when connecting, for a few seconds and then never again.
Regarding logo - Sure, it is visible, but not clickable anymore.

Any benefits from having dynamic banner, that shows client count, current datettime or other interesting stuff like it always did on TS3 are there, but given that server banner is not always visible anymore, the banners usefulness was greatly reduced, since realistically, users will only see it for splits of a second, before joining some channel and never seeing the server info page again, until they restart the teamspeak or manally click the server name on top, which realistically, nobody will do.

I specifically wrote point 3 as optional, since I have hopes there are some plans to do something about the logo and banner in the future, maybe better than ts3 did it.
But as it is currently with Teamspeak 5.0.0-beta77, both logo and banner are not as functional or visible as they were in TS3, which I think would definitely be good to reimplement again, maybe in a different form, but without pushing it deep into menus, like it is currently with the server banner .

Teamspeak 3 meanwhile, not cluttered, server icon on top, if I want to have right side panel or chat, I can remove both, I can keep one or the other, not possible anymore with TS5.

The server is and most likely will be down.

After getting this reply to my thread I decided to put up a TS Server as a test for the currently on-going Fly-In, and as it - surprisingly - seemed to work, I thought I'll just leave it running. It is just for the latest versions of XP/TS and has no integration between them, so not really a substitute for a real communications simulation.

Until further notice, this is the official Teamspeak server for the fly-ins. All pilots at the fly-in are encouraged to log on and listen in, even if you do not have a headset it is vital to hear the radio calls others make! Text communication is still allowed as well, since pilots on the same radio frequency will see in X-Plane as well.

Lemon and I will try to work out with porakone where to go from here during the coming weeks - user accounts and licenses are among the possible issues we may have to consider. But so far the test server is perfectly usable, with one caveat: the automatic updates seem to break the "push to talk" hotkey system on the Mac version. So if you are experiencing problems after a Teamspeak update, you may need to re-add the Teamspeak client application to the list in System Preferences : Security and Privacy : Accessibility. Took me a while to figure that one out myself

The server (as well as my webserver) has been running on my Win 7 desktop which I use for everything else too. Lately I've been having quite a few hardware problems and my Win installation seems to need an overhaul too, so today I did what I've been thinking about for a few years. I bought a HP Proliant Microserver and used the evening and night to learn Linux enough to get all my 'serving stuff' running on it, and now it all seems to run. There is just one little thing to solve (getting the no-ip client to autostart) but it can wait for now.

I will be moving this weekend (24-25.2.2018) and the server is moving with me so a few lines about that.

At this time (SAT morning) I don't know what time everything will happen, but my guess/aim is to get the server moved before the Fly-In normally begins. Naturally I can't guarantee that, and the server just may go down in the middle of everything without any warning. If everything goes as planned, it should be back online in less than 30 minutes.

As you may have noticed, the server was up all day because I had to delay the move a day further.

The server is now in a new location and on another connection, please let me know how it works next weekend (May 3rd '18)

Will do. Some day.

Just tried for two hours and now I'm going to go break something.

While you wait, you can use older TS3 client versions from

Don't know what's the latest version that works, but at least 3.0.19 (4/2016) is ok.

The server has been running for almost 3 years at over 99% reliablility, but now it's time for an extended break.

As can be seen above, it was time to update to a newer version and even if I knew what will propably happen I tried. And it happened. I know next to nothing about Linux, and about all I can do is follow step-by-step instructions to get things done. If something goes wrong I either format the HD and install everything again or I let it be, and because my WWW and FTP still work, I choose to let it be this time.

First I made a backup of the old version, tried this and that and something else too to get the new version running but no. Then I reverted to the backup and it ran like it did before. Then I tried still something, and after that the backup didn't even run any more. Then I tried just to follow installation instructions like it was a fresh install, but ran in to some errors I never had before while following the same instructions. Naturally it doesn't work.

My experience with Linux (for over 10 years that I've been occasionally trying, the current server be'ing the first thing that really works) is that to solve problem 1 you need to google 15 minutes just to run to a problem 2 which you need to solve before solving problem 1. Then you again google for 15 minutes just to find that you need to solve problem 3 to solve 2 to solve 1 etc etc. Been doin'g that for the past 4-5 hours now just to get and stay stuck.

So the server is now down and it will probably stay that way, and this topic should propably be unpinned.

Thank you.

Well, as unfortunate as this is, it is also more than understandable. When we have everything running on a strictly volunteer basis like this, situations like this sometimes can't be helped. For the past three years, you went to great lengths to keep the Teamspeak server running for us, @PDrill, and for that you have our sincere thanks.

On the management side the 1.1.X branch of Mumble wasn't that great. Not that it didn't offer the functionality but we relied on 3rd parties to provide administration interfaces for our server. If I'm not mistaken TS3 ships an interface with their server and you can do a lot of stuff from the client. With 1.2.X we started integrating basic admin functionality in our client, no, it doesn't allow your to configure every aspect of a server but it is enough to manage it (for virtual server management etc. you still want to use a 3rd party interface, they improved a lot^^). From what I've seen their rights management is more granular than ours, some in our community say it's a monster  , but I don't know enough about it to do a real comparison. Again: Try for yourself ;-)

In terms of features TS3 has some things we don't: Multi server support, profiles, plugins and file transfer come to mind. Mumble on the other hand has some stuff TS3 does not have (afaik): Native (with 1.2.3 interactive) overlay support, encrypted voice transmission (afaik ts3 only encrypts their control channel) and positional audio plugins for a lot of games come to mind. But repeating myself once again: You'll have to try for yourself to find out which features actually mean something to you and your clan.

Then there's licensing. That one is pretty simple for Mumble: Run or rent as many servers with as many slots as you want. We don't care. Take & Change our code, just stick to the BSD licensing (which basically means do what you want but don't remove our names and the license from it). For TS3 I refer you to their FAQ on licensing (keep in mind that non-profit also generally means no ads, more info can again be found in their faq).
