Barry -- thanks for asking.  Yes, I'd be happy to type them up -- and I have some other feedback too that I didn't include cause of time which I'll note.  It's a pretty hectic week and I'm in union negotiations tomorrow, so you might not see this write-up til early next week.

I don't want to impose myself into your project, so will rely on y'all to let me know if/when you want any help.  In addition to my big picture feedback, I'm happy to "connect" you to others in the community who would be helpful.

take care,

Karen

Thank you so much Karen for being there tonight, and for your very thoughtful feedback.  I wonder if there’s a way that you could share your notes with us?  You had such good insight, and we don’t want to lose it!

Thanks for caring about what we’re doing, for being willing to share your time, and for the opportunity to work together going forward!

Regards,

Barry

Heather and Barry --

I'm not going to make it over much before 6:30.  But I want you to know that I'm very interested in your project (based on what I've seen) -- and even after tonight hope we can continue to be in contact about it.

see you soon - take care,

Karen

Hi Barry -- Thanks for extending the invite to meet.  I have a much better idea now of what y'all have in mind from Jonathan's email. I'm not sure that I'll be able to break away from here to meet you at 5:30, but I'll let you know how it's going tomorrow.  (I'm presuming that you intended to be there early any way . . . .)

take care,

Thanks, Jonathan and Karen!

Karen, if you’d like, we can have a conversation in person tomorrow just before the event.  I expect to be there at least an hour ahead of time.

Thanks,

Barry

Perfect, Karen!  Happy to provide more information.  Just so you get a sense of the work they've been doing, their prototype is here:  http://bridge.braitsch.io/

Here's a brief description of them:

-Bridge (http://bridge.braitsch.io/ The Bridge project both advances the mapping and communication of the complex ecosystem of services to homeless populations and also offers a new open architecture technology platform that improves efficiency and service quality to clients, and transparency and information sharing among providers. The Bridge technology solution includes both service providers and clients with technology that provides transparency and a robust exchange of real-time information via multiple channels. The platform gathers the data necessary to create a more comprehensive solution, both at the technology and ecosystem-wide levels.

The team has done an immense amount of connection work with local community orgs and has attended every SAW meeting.

Areas where I think you could offer insights and advice might be:

  • Understanding the nuanced technical and political needs of each service provider.
  • Understanding and contextualizing needs of community members when interfacing with such a service.
  • Understanding existing platforms like Changes and why they do/don't work.
  • Helping them and the crowd understand needs specific to ECS and how those would play into this platform.

I've looped in Barry and Heather who are members of the Bridge team to see if they have other thoughts on ECS mentoring.

We SO much appreciate your participation and I'm personally very excited for ways that Hub Bay Area can continue to support the great work that ECS does.

Please make sure to RSVP here and feel free to use a comp code(CR8C2012) for free admission: http://cr8c.eventbrite.com/

Let me know if you have any questions and see you tomorrow!

Best,

Jonathan

Hi Jon -- just got word on this from Phil.  Yes, I'm available and willing to serve on the panel.  Could we talk before, or could you send an email to give me a little more insight on what info might be helpful to the Bridge Team?  (I "get" that I'm to ask them what I can offer, but I'd like to be as prepared as possible to be of assistance.)

take care,

Karen

Hi Phil!

It was so great to meet up on Friday.  So inspired by all you guys do.  Hey, wanted to see if you got this invite and whether or not someone from ECS might be a fit for this mentoring panel.  Let me know if anyone can participate and I'll send more info!

Hi Phil,
I'm wondering if you or someone from your team might be willing to join us for our event next week?

We're hosting a demo day for Creative Currency on August 15th.  We'd like to invite you onstage to participate on a 20 minute panel of expert mentors to The Bridge team.  We expect the project to have big impact on our community in Mid-Market, and it would be great to have your insights and advice showcased as part of this broad reaching event.

Below are more details on the format.  Please confirm as to whether or not you or one of your team would be available to join us and RSVP here: http://cr8c.eventbrite.com/

Demo Day Format
Demo Day will use an exciting interactive dialogue format between the teams and a panel of four expert mentors selected specifically for their project.  Mentors will have 8 minutes to dialogue with a team after they present. You will differ from judges in that you begin with the question “What can I offer?” rather than “What is right or wrong?”  This may include suggestions, connections, resources, and direction.

Please see more information on Bridge team below.

Food and refreshments will be served. RSVP here: http://cr8c.eventbrite.com/

About Creative Currency

Creative Currency is a new model for innovating and sustaining world-changing, community-driven projects.  Demo Day is an opportunity to see the best of those projects presented in a exciting dialog with experts.
In April, 175 of San Francisco’s brightest developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and community representatives came together to develop new solutions at an event called Creative Currency Collaboration Weekend.  Four top projects were selected to receive support and mentoring for their ideas in the months to come.
The four projects have received a total of $15,000 in seed funding, and the chance to showcase at SOCAP12, the largest conference at the intersection of money and meaning.
We hope you'll join us.
