Game 5, Marlboro at Rip City

After over a week of time, countless minutes of trouble-shooting, and 2 attempts at playing HTH, both owners' patience ran out due to the constant freezing and disconnects, and the second half of game 5 was played against the CM.  It was a very exciting half, as it ends in a tie at 99 a piece as Butler misses a chance to win for the Pioneers when his shot clangs off the rim with 3 seconds left.  In overtime, Gobert ties the game at 109 with 24 seconds left.  Marlboro goes to KD, who just misses the jumper, and with time expiring, Rubio gets the ball and somehow manages to miss the easy layup.  Double OT!  Fast forward to 14 seconds left.  Rubio gets the ball and makes sure not to miss the layup this time, giving Rip City a 117-116 lead.  Marlboro calls time out to run a play for Durant, but the ball ends up with Wood.  Another timeout is called and the clock runs down to 1 second.  Durant gets the inbound pass and shoots a quick turnaround jumper...  It is... good! Rip City, picked by the pundits to win it all this year, falls a bit short of their goal, losing the series 1-4.

Congratulations to Mr. "Z" for building a great team (mostly from scratch) and for a great season!  We had a great time bantering over the phone -- the only downer was the instability of the game HTH...

Congratulations to “Coach Ezra” on the series win!  Well done!!

 

Many thanks to Ezra for his relentless efforts to attempt making the H-2-H competition work. I too thoroughly enjoyed our significant time on the phone talking about the game, STRAT in general, and plenty of other interesting subjects.  T’was a “hoot”!!!
