I went to the DeKalb County public safety meeting last night and learned about a new online crime report that is useful for people who live and work in DeKalb County.

 

It is called  CrimeTrac and you can access it by going to www.dekalbpolice.com and clicking on the CrimeTrac icon on the middle of the page OR http://www.crimemapping.com/map/ga/dekalbcounty. You can type in your home or work address and select a radius and which crimes you want to know about. It will give you a list of all crimes using the parameters you have indicated and plot them on a map. A plus is that you can save your parameters and have it delivered to you in a daily email.

 

I did that last night and this morning there was a report letting me know that there was a robbery yesterday at the shopping center just a few blocks from my home (see report below). The information is available within a few hours of the end of a work shift.

I checked out the DeKalb site for Kimellen's attack. It was in there at 3:50 in the morning when it actually occured at about 7:00. In other words, accuracy is not 100%, but it is still pretty good.
