DeKalb County police spokeswoman Bettina Durant said Briarlake Elementary School was put on lockdown as a precaution before 8:30 a.m. She said one man was shot at a home across the street from the school, which is on Briarlake Road at Lavista Road. The condition of the shooting victim, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting, were not immediately available.
