Sorry to hear about that Lisa. I agree that such a pricey machine should last much longer. I have a B2, and it's now about 6 years old I think. I run it on a timer and it's on every day for about 12 hours. I've only ever replaced the vibe pumps, and eventually switched it out to PID and rotary. Seems like I had a water line leak once too, but don't recall.
I hope WLL changes their stance for you. I can't conceive of a situation where an element should fail in under two years. Have you spoken to Todd yet? If not, you should. I'm pretty sure he'll try to make it right.

best,
bmc

I enjoyed fantastic coffee for about a year and a half, until last week. All of a sudden, the boiler would not heat up past 61 degrees. I looked at the forums and the [useless] manual, and then called WWL technical support. After many attempts to get an answer, basically they said that it only had a one year warranty, and there was nothing that they could do.

There's a number of things that don't involve the heater that could cause that. If it heats up at all it doesn't seem like it's the heater. Does it steam? Did you take the case off and see if the red button popped. They do that sometimes. .

Lisa,  if your purchase was made using a credit card, many cards have as one of their "features" that they provide an automatic extension of the original warranty ... up to one year, or double the original warranty, whichever is shorter.

This service is provided via a third party company that takes the risk.  You have to call your card company, who confirms the benefit and gives you a phone number.  You call that number and the company assigns you a claim number, sends you forms, and gives you their web site where you can download copies.  You usually have 90 days from the date of failure to submit your claim with proof of: 1. purchase date, 2. failure, 3.cost of repair and 4. payment for repair or replacement.  I went through the maze for a PC ... Things that cost several thousand dollars occasionally break in year two.  It is not common, but it does happen for every brand.

Good luck.

The statements, "It's only getting 7.4 Volts" and "the element is bad" would seem to to me to be mutually exclusive. But what do I know? Good or bad, the element should always have 117V across it if the heater is on, if not, then something else is wrong.

LisaR,
There is a wire that goes from the PID to the Brew boiler. Those wires often come loose and fall out of the connector. If that happens, the brew boiler will not heat up.
It is not a hard fix if you can open up the machine. WLL has youtube videos on opening the Brewtus.
