Requesting advice on VST or IMS baskets for Brewtus

I'm considering buying a VTS or IMS basket for my Brewtus III-V, intending to use it in the same stock portafilter. VST has an "18g Double" with these specs:

17-19 gram dose

24.2 mm height

60.0 mm outside diameter

58.4 mm tamper

Am I safe in assuming this would fit the OEM portafilter that came with the machine? My attempt to measure my portafilter with a ruler seems to show 61 mm diameter at the top (without basket).

Has anyone else tried using one of these baskets in a Brewtus and, if so, how did you like it?

I’ve had two VSTs for many years, and have enjoyed them. They perform as advertised. I’m not home at the moment, but believe I have the 18 and 21 g versions. I use a bottomless rancilio PF and they work fine in there. I’m confident that the diameter will fit your Brewtus PF, but it’s possible that the depth won’t work. For example, they don’t fit the two-spout PF on my current ECM E61 Synkronika because the PF bottom slopes inwards and there is interference.

Happy to check on this with my old Brewtus when I’m back home Saturday if you’d like. Please remind me.

Also, the tamper from VST is spendy, but I feel it’s worth it—it’s of course perfectly fitted to the baskets.

(P.S. If it wasn’t clear—I used the VSTs for years with my Brewtus 2 also, but with the non-stock rancilio bottomless PF as mentioned).

I tried both VST and IMS baskets with my Brewtus II and also with my new Crem One Profiler.

It can't hurt to get one.

But, I can't taste the difference in shot taste between these baskets and the ones that came with the Brewtus.

I have also tried improved shower screens. That seems to help a little. Only a little.
