Hey Brewtus group - I am pulling the pin and getting rid of my ExpoBar IV machine. I haven't used it for a couple of years, so it has been stored in my garage. Never frozen, but I've had it since 2004. It definitely needs some tender loving care, although I bet it would fire up and pull a good shot even after all this time. I have some new parts for it, both gauges as they were wonky and not reading right, but I never installed them. Because it is old (AND HEAVY) , I am willing to part with it for free - however, the person that gets it will be responsible for shipping. And as I am in Canada, that will be an issue. I do however, pick up my green coffee beans in Sumas, WA, so would be willing to drag it across the border, AND go through the resultant grilling from the border gestapo, in order to send from WA. If there is any interest, let me know.

I love my machine but modded it quite a bit. only things i hate, long warm up time and noisy pump, well and the heating element changing once a while

What are you replacing it with, Craig?

Nice of you to pass it along to the next enthusiast as well!

I have a mini-espresso-museum in the garage—an old boiler-only krups,(no pump, maybe 3-4 years of service), very early Saeco Rio Vapore vibe pump (later called Starbucks Estra I think?, about 10 years of service), Expobar Brewtus 2 (modded with PID and rotary pump after about 8 years, maybe 13-14 years total service?), and now using an ECM Synchronika (7 years service so far; just chased down a dead computer in it so nearly all new parts on that one—GTG for a while).

Man, that adds up to a lot of shots! Still love the Brewtus user group the best!!! 😘

Hey Ben - I went with a manual one - a Flair 58. So, can use all my 58mm portafilters etc, and the maintenance is just a couple of O-rings. My wife (horrors) only drinks brewed now, so the number of shots that I pull is 1 - 2 day, unless we have friends over and I am making more. The Flair actually makes a pretty nice shot, and if I want to get fancy I pull out the HG grinder etc and do everything old school. You're right about the group though - the people here are awesome and I will stay signed up just for the commentary. And yes, Brewtus is going to make its way back to the states, likely via sailboat so that should be cool.

I am doing the same. Still lurking and reading what comes through. Hey Ben and Craig. I updated my stuff at home in Dec of 16 but still using a BII at our family's summer home.

Hey Craig, I’m still nursing a B II so a B IV would be a nice upgrade. I’m in Seattle so Sumas is a quick trip and maybe a chance to see friends in Bellingham.

Where do you buy beans in Sumas?

Sounds cool!

I’ll also be up B.C. way this summer a few times (also by boat) and could transport down to someone Seattle-ish if it would be helpful. We’ll be ashore in Vancouver, as well as further north most likely (Desolation Sound and the Broughtons).
