First shot was GREAT! Made a lucky guess on grind setting and Brewtus did the rest. It does have a minor leak on warmup but for now I am ok with that. Waiting on some parts and then it will be plumbed and out of the milk jug...I'm hoping the new gasket softens up/breaks in so I can get a better lock on the portafilter! It won't go to 45 deg. ANY tips on that front? Thanks for everyone for your helpful info.Peter

Nice! Glad to hear! You can order pf gaskets in varying thicknesses to get the handle positioned where you want it. Until that gasket wears in, haha. I switched to the silicone one and just live with it being crooked.

Sorry, meant to say that the screen and gasket will come right out as a unit, not just the screen. I sort of think this is why the screen is flared, but have no proof, except that it works. :)

I never checked the house psi but figured it was higher than the recommended pressure to the machine of sub 40, thus the regulator. I don't recall this when it wasn't plumbed but I was probably too distracted by the glossy finish! Anyway, it seems to relax when it's all heated up. Tomorrow am going to watch the needle and the OPV for any odd behavior again.
If the meter is connected to a closed system with no air in it, the brew boiler as possibly an example, heating the water will cause it to expand causing unexpectedly high pressure readings. I don't recall the being an issue but I've not turned on my machine in a few years and mine is a B-II which might be plumbed slightly different.
