Hi !
I'm new to BrewTarget and looking for some Klarstein/Hopcat/Ace/Beertorrent/BrewMonk users to set up the equipment profile and get some tips & tricks.
Thanks!

Hello Bertrand,

I'm new to Klarstein/ACE/Brewmonk brewing system, and a bit experienced with brewtarget.
I'll try my new toy very soon, and let you know how it goes.

Cheers

Dobrý den Jaryn,

still in progress. In fact, my retailer took a month to deliver,  the FastFerment fermenter seems to be very popular. So for now I've just made few tries.
The last one was actually yesterday, and it goes not very well because I burnt the mash. I had to activate the emergency plan not to throw everything and I finally managed to get the situation back! And 'spent 45 minutes to clean smoothly the burnt bottom. Hopefully the resulting beer won't taste bad..

The first things I can say is: do not brew too small batches. I have the 50 liters version, and with all the pipes in the filtering system, the minimum total volume (water + barley) is approximately 35L (about 9kg of barley and 27L of water). Below this volume, if the crushed grain is too thin, there won't be enough water to go through the overflow outlet, and then it will burn downside. A solution is to use only one piece of pipe, the small one or the other. I did this for my first try, with a half batch. But it's not ideal, clearly the must is to use the whole volume (and yesterday it was not possible because I had about 30L of total volume).

Beside, it appears than my brewtarget crashed this mornig, and I'm afraid that 3 years of recipes had vanished... Fortunately, I had html copies, but still.. it sucks! I also have a database backup from the beginning of the year, so without my last recipes and equipments settings.
I'll do my best to see what I can to for this.
Next brewing scheduled on may.

We keep in touch.
Cheers

I'll let you know guys my settings and the results.

Hello again,

good news, I got my database back! By the way, I changed my configuration to back it up automatically...

Anyway, I joined the recipe (the burnt one.. so be careful!) and here's the equipment configuration. I made two, a 20L (half batch) and a 45L (full batch) configuration.

I used the half batch this time because of the belgium style: very high ABV so not much water Not far from a 45L recipe but with 20L at the end! Totally hybrid, and not very well adapted, as I said it would be probably ok with few more liters.
Finally, FG was 1.081 for 20L, but I lost about 5L during the operation (I transfered the mash in smaller kettle (27L) to finish the brewing), so these resulst are not really relevant.

I'll probable make a whole review of all my facilities when all the settings are ok.

See you.
