Hi All,

I am so grateful my googling journey yielded this opportunity to join a group of local  brewers - I had no idea this was a thing ! I am situated in the GVA and brewing has been my passion for 20 years-started with Wine in college, moved to distilling and then beer over the last 4-5 years. Currently brewing a Autumn Ale- used mild fall flavorings over a dark ale recipe- Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Orange Peel and Clove. Excited to keg it over the weekend and begin tasting over the following weekend.

Are there any planned events over the Fall season and moving into Christmas ? Do you guys meet up at a location to trade and exchange Ideas, brews and stories ? Are there any upcoming competitions ?

Cheers to all !

Hi Carlisle,

Welcome to Brew Westminster! Unfortunately the group has been pretty quiet for the last few years. Something happened in 2020 that the group hasn't really bounced back from. But maybe your post will prompt some new conversation. Thanks for reaching out. It's always nice to hear from other homebrewers!

I just tapped a keg of "Thiol" Red Ale. I used Thiol Libre yeast to unlock the bound thiols in Cascade (Mash hopped with leaf and cryo hops in the boil) along with some Phantasm Powder. These are some ingredients and techniques that I've been meaning to experiment with for a while now. The result is a bit... disappointing. It's a solid beer but I'm not sure I got the biotransformation that the thioized yeast claims to provide. A fun experiment though!
