Our 3 stop zip trip will be Sat. March
25th starting at 9:45 Am sharp.
1st stop will be Ensley Grove south end of Merritt Island,
9880 South Tropical trail . This is a 5th generation family owned
mango grove. The grove has over 60 trees with mango varieties only found in
their grove. This grove has a rich heritage and both John and Ed his son both
deceased were pioneers in developing mango cultivars. Their niece and grandson
will share this history as well as tell you about the different Mango’s
.
2nd stop at noon, will be at 1755 Jaren
St, Merritt Island, at Bill and Lek Wallace's home, long time
members of our club. They have a 1 1/2 acre grove covered with fruit trees
such as Jack fruit , Mango’s ,lychee’s Sapote’s as well as some beautiful
tropical flowers.
3rd stop Around 2:15 will be
at 2231 Fields Ave Merritt Island,
Rod and Christine Davignon. 2 Acre lot with everything you can
imagine . They specialize with at least 6 fruit tree I’ve never heard
of. They both love to plant something that no one has ever heard of. You will
really enjoy this couple. Their place is located off north tropical trail
just below 524 bridge.
Suggestions: try to go to rest rooms between stops as most
don’t have rest rooms available, leave an impression with these people who have
volunteered their place by bringing some fruit if you have some or a fruit tree
you can’t plant or have propagated. Refreshments will be furnished by club Space
will be limited to around 20 people so PLEASE car pool. No picking unless you
get permission. Pass on to club members who don’t get emails about trip.
