Hello

I have just purchased a Bluesound node, and I am delighted that it is able to see my B2 as  NAS, and I can access music.  On connection it spent a while Indexing, and indexed around 7,500 items ( songs I assume). However, when a list of the music is displayed on the Blue sound, many of the albums are not listed, and cant be located.I am not sure if this is an Bluesound issue, or whether the B2 is somehow reluctant to give up this information to it.

Thank you

I had the same problem. My Node 2i indexed maybe 90℅ of my B2 contents, but some titles, album art etc were missing. I was told it's because the B2 doesn't rely on metatags, whereas the BlueOS app does. I believe you can add and edit tags in your B2 library using software such as mp3tag, but I decided not to make that effort. At the time I was running my B2 optically into the Node, in order to use its DAC, so it was easy to select the optical input in BlueOS, which I renamed as Brennan B2, then go to the Brennan UI to access the music.

I totally support the route that Davy took with his situation.  That's a viable way to go - possibly the path of least resistance.

If you really want to use the Node to index and control all the music on the B2, you will need to make sure that all the music has correct tagging metadata attached to it.  That information is stored within the file for each song.  As Davy noted, you can use the free program mp3tag to do that from a computer accessing the files via NAS.  Another way to tag those files is to try the Retag Album command (Album menu) on the B2.  The description for the command says it works on FLAC files.  So if you've compressed to FLAC, it should work.  But if you've chosen MP3, then it's questionable whether the command is accurately documented or whether it really will work for MP3s.

This has not ended well.  The reindexing seemed to work. I did one album and sure enough it appeared in the menu.  I then found that there was an option to reindex the whole disc.  I set of doing that , and it froze after about 3000 songs. I  had to unplug it, and restart.  This happened twice more.  I removed the wifi and bluetooth dongles, and this time it completed.  However I now have a " Read only " message for the hard disc.  I have followed instructions on  Brennan's website- i.e exporting the contents to a USB device, and then trying to reformat the hard disc.  BUT it won't let me re format the  hard disc,  and it displays the " read only" message each time I reboot and try.    I may post this as a new query in the forum too.  Thank  you in advance for any thoughts !

Hi,

Did you disable NAS before attempting the HDD format ?
Essentially you need to make sure nothing else is happening on the hard drive.

Hi Robert,

There is sometimes a problem with formatting the internal HDD.  Below is a link to a post which details the procedure that should enable the format to work correctly.

Before doing the reformat, have you checked that your USB Export backup is good and complete?  Check out the link below.

Regards,
Peter.
