What do 'X' and 'Y' on the remote control do?

I was looking for a way to get to UPPERCASE letters using the remote -- I see it's possible using the rotary knob -- and pressed the 'X" button.

The display went blank!

Pressing "Menu" brought it back to "Ready". So I pressed 'Y' (of course, being careless and foolhardy -- plus having a backup of my music already).

The display said "No Sonos Spea" (didn't seem to scroll unless I'm just impatient and it was waiting for me to memorize it).

What do those buttons do and is there another way to do those things? I can'[t find any useful details about the remote on the website. The website really needs a "search" function.

Thanks -- Mark F.

Hi Mark,
If you go to the B2 web homepage and select 'The Basics' it shows a schematic of the Remote Control which says X and Y are reserved for future use. No idea what Martin might be planning.
Cheers,
Rob

Thanks. I looked through that page, and the future must be now, because the buttons clearly do *something*. I'm just unclear on what is happening when the screen goes blank, for instance.

Yep, though what they're doing may not yet have been validated.  I guess this one will need PMB or Martin to update us.

Hi All,

I know Martin uses these when testing software as a quick way to get to the function. Currently Y is a way to select Sonos units (or Wired) from the remote and X looks like it restarts the B2 (not 100% sure).

Hi Mark,

To get upper case letters keep pressing the button. So for example button '2' cycles through a, b, c, 2, A, B, C & 2.
