iPhone App Published

Hi All

We have just published an App for iPhone (and iPad). There are quite a few Apps on the App Store that match "brennan" so I searched for "martin brennan" to find it quickly.

The iPhone app will locate any Brennans on the local network and will allow simple control and search directly from within the app.

You can open the web UI from within the app to give you complete control.

If you have multiple Brennans you can switch between them.

There is no voice control with iPhone app.

Let me know of any difficulties or suggestions here on the forum.

I use a shortcut to the UI very successfully on my iPad and so I don’t really need this app but I installed it. It is fine but within it I am not able to search albums, which is always what I do, only artists (which actually only scrolled to 'b').

Thanks good to know its working - in fact the search results will show artists, albums, tracks and radio stations - it only shows the first few screenfuls of matches so you need to put some text in to narrow down the search...

Thanks for your reply. If I’ve understood properly, this app won’t be of use to me because I select music by album - it’s almost all classical music - and as I don’t always know what I want to listen to I often scroll through the entire list and remind myself of what I have or I go to a playlist, eg Choral.  I know I can switch to the web Ui which is handy at the bottom left but that of course takes me out of the app.

Understood - I'll note this - I have been very impressed by the capabilities of the app versus the web so we may well extend its capabilities in future but at the same time I would like to keep it as simple as possible

Thanks for the excellent app Martin. It works perfectly on my two B2’s and B1 using an iPad Pro and iPhone SE. It avoids my previous need to have separate home screen shortcuts on my devices, for each of my Brennan’s.
Will voice control become available for iOS based Brennan’s in the near futue

I like the idea of the app.  However, the default search view is for the first 40 or so artists and the search bar.  Searching for an artist gives just one album.

I am using an iPhone 8 and iPad.  Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for another potentially great addition to the Brennan.

A couple of slight issues though:

1. Whilst the search feature works extremely quickly, if you search by artist, the app finds it ok but then you are unable to drill down to show albums/tracks by the selected artist.
2. When I hit the WEB UI button, is there a way of defaulting to the old original UI which I prefer. At the moment it seems to default to the new WEB UI which does not work too well on the IPAD?

Totally agree with the above comments. Using on an iPad Pro it always defaults to iPhone mobile style. Is there any way of defaulting to the view that is available on the url!

Initially very impressed with the app. User friendly and does all I require.
I had no problem with the search function- it found what I was looking for, including multiple results where my search string was vague.
Well done all concerned- I now eagerly await the iPhone voice app!

Was pleased to see an ipad app now, however it will not work on my iPad 3 as it needs io 10.0 or later. My ipad will go no further than 9.3.6 which I have installed.

Will I be able to try anything to enable brennan app on this ipad? at present

Hi all

A couple of posts ago I raised 2 issues I had with the IPAD app release.

Well I don’t know whether it was me raising the issues or whether Martin and the Brennan team had planned to do an update anyway but I am really pleased to see both items fixed under the latest update 19th February.

What a difference in the experience using my IPAD,,!!

I shan’t be using it much as I said before because it doesn’t suit the way I search but as Chrissy says it’s now showing albums and tracks by the artist chosen.

On my iPad the web Ui  available is still a mobile one, though it works well on my iPad except that I don’t seem to be able to change the volume.

Not surprised the volume doesn’t work - my IPAD has always been a bit hit and miss with regards to the volume controls on any WEB Ui release. However I’m happy to say that on both the app and when the WEB UI is opened they work perfectly - at the moment! Very responsive when using using one of those microfibre tipped stylus pens.

Am I missing something here.

1   The new app will only return the first 50 artists, unless I go to the Web UI

2   There is no Settings function on the new app.

3   Only when I go to  Web UI/Settings and first switch to new mobile and then back to original can I get at the equaliser
