Hi,
My BB1 is almost full to capacity. All items show as albums or artists on screen and all play normally.
However, when interrogated in NAS mode it shows only a few albums.
When I attempt to use scan disc, it immediately returns back to the "Maintenance" item.
Any ideas?

Yes it does that but the scan disc process continues to run in the background. It confused me initially.

Have you checked your Stats.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for that information.
Yes, the Stats are correct.
All music shows on the BB1 and also on the WebUI but not when I look at content in NAS mode.
It's no big deal but has come about as I was looking for a method of backing up the BB1 content.
Thanks again.

I haven’t used NAS but for a backup I followed Paul’s advice as follows:

“You could also make a new SD Card - I think you have to go through the whole process i.e. Copy OS (and delete P3) > Create P3 > Copy P3 but you will end up with a bootable SD Card with your music on it.

(Paul Brennan Support)”

And it worked fine

Hi Ian,
Thanks yet again.
I'll also follow Paul's advice.
I just don't understand why only a few albums show on my network (NAS mode) but please don't bother with this any more.

I had the same issue using my B2 as a NAS for a Sonos. I was only getting a limited number of albums in the Sonos list. I upgraded from wifi to ethernet connections and hey presto, a lot more albums in the Sonos list. Not sure why, but maybe the Sonos times out ?

Hi Intrepid82,

Just checked my BB1 + NAS and all appears as expected.

Might be worth checking the WiFi signal - WiFi Strength - Maintenance menu - it needs to be at least -60dBm and not fluctuate wildly.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the help.
Problem solved!
I looked again at the (short) list of albums shown under "BrennanBB1" in NAS mode to see if there was a common denominator in terms of format etc. I then noticed one folder was simply labelled "music" When opened, it contains all the music currently on the BB1 !!
How I ended up with nested folders I do not understand but was able to carry out a simple backup to an external disc.

Thanks again.

I think you said there was music directly under the BrennanBB1 folder viewed via NAS.  AFAIK, there should not be any music directly under that folder.  Rather, all music should be found in the 'music' folder, which itself is directly under BrennanBB1.  I have no idea about how music files came to be above the music folder.

Or maybe I'm just confused about your situation.

Hi Intrepid,

Glad to hear you have the problem sorted.

To confirm -

The top level folder should be 'music'.
The 'music' folder should only contain Artist folders - no other files.
Artist folders should only contain Albums folder - no Tracks or other files
Album folders can contain Tracks, Artwork etc.

Peter Lowham posted a more complete set of rules on the Forum.

Hi Guys,

Attached here is a PDF 'Export & Import Rules for Brennan'.  If you ensure that these rules are followed, you will find that your 'Export' and 'Import' functions will work absolutely correctly and all of your music content will be in its correct folder.

At the time, it took me a few weeks of cleaning up my collection to get to this point, but it was very much worth doing.  I have two B2s and a BB1 so I'm regularly using these functions which take about 8 hours each on my collection of about 20,000 tracks (234GB).

Regards,
Peter.
