Hello, I have another newbie question. We would like to export playlists from the B2. We found  an answer in the FAQ's I think, that says:
(Can I save a single Album or Track to USB?
Yes, just put what you want to transfer into a playlist and then select Playlists>Export Playlist)
My B2 seems to have no such select choice. We looked under USB and playlist tabs on the web UI. Has there been a change or are we just blind here?
Thanks, David

The Export Playlist command should be in the Playlist menu.  When turning the big knob, it is easy to have two commands go by at once.  So turn it carefully and slowly.  If you still don't see that command, try running a Web Upgrade (Settings menu).

Please let us know what develops.

These functions are best done from the front panel display and the round knob. The Web UI does not have ALL the functions available that you can do from the front of the unit.

Hi David,

Some functions are only available using the front panel control on the B2 - these include 'Export Playlist'.

Thank you for the above - very helpful. I have got as far as "Export playlist", selected a  playlist, inserted a USB stick, and then pressed "OK" on the remote. Should anything appear on the display  to indicate exporting is in progress? Or when it's finished? Or have I missed out a step or two?

Any advice very welcome.

Hi Crispin,

Two things to note - the USB stick needs sufficient memory capacity to take the entire Playlist and it needs to be FAT32n formatted.

The B2 can do the formatting - Maintenance menu >> Format USB C (or A, depending where you have plugged the memory stick) - this will of course erase everything on the stick.....

I'm not in front of my B2 at the moment but from memory the smaller text at the bottom of the B2's display shows the progress.

When it shows it has completed, leave the stick in place for a minute or two longer to make sure the process has fully completed.

Paul

Thank you very much.

I think, though I'm not absolutely sure, that the USB stick would have sufficient capacity - this was an experimental playlist of 5 CDs and the nominal capacity of the stick  is 32GB (so even if that's optimistic I think it should be enough). I had previously formatted the stick following helpful advice elsewhere on this forum (because initially the B2 did not recognise the stick).

When I pressed the knob to export the playlist, or pressed OK at the appropriate point (I think) on the remote, however, nothing at all seemed to happen.  Sorry, but is there anything else I should try?

Best wishes

Hi Crispin.

It is ESSENTIAL that the USB stick you are using is FAT32 formatted for this to work. I suspect that it is NOT.
Therefore please add in this extra step before trying it again.

Plug the USB stick in USB A on the B2.
From the front menu and knob go:-
"main menu > settings > maintenance > Format USB A"  (this Formats USB drive in USB  A - uses FAT32 - WARNING deletes everything on the external device)
Once this format finishes (quite quick)
Try saving your playlist again.

Hi Crispin,

When you plug the USB stick into the B2 does the display show 'USB C: Mass Storage Mounted (or USB A .....) - this indicates that the B2 can see the stick and that it is correctly formatted?

When you select 'Export Playlist' and then choose the Playlist to export and confirm, the bottom line of the display will show 'Exporting: 1/9' (for example).

Fred, Paul

Thank you very much - I really appreciate you taking the time to help.

Unfortunately it's still not working. I bought another USB stick in case that was the issue; formatted it as per instructions; checked that it was recognised; tried to export - and - nothing.  I though it migh have happened so quickly that nothing was visible, so I tried putting the USB stick in my laptop, which confirmed that there was nothing on the stick. Could it be that I've ripped the CDs in the wrong format for export? Or...?

One other thing - I formatted the USB stick in USB A. The export automatically suggested exporting to USB C and I couldn't see how to change it. I did of course move the stick to USB C before trying to export. How would I change that?

Sorry to be so helpless.

Hi Crispin.

Please plug your USB stick back into your PC and then from File Manager right click on it and select to look at its properties to check that it is indeed formatted as FAT (or FAT32)
a.jpg

NOTE, when you plug it into windows, windows may say there is something wrong with it and offer to fix it. DONT DO that and if you did (last time) please reformat the USB on the B2.

-------------------------------
If the USB is FAT formatted, remove it, and plug it into the B2's USB C port and power the B2 up.

Next select an empty playlist using the B2's Web UI, open it and
Then select an artist from the central panel area then click on the 3 dots on an album in the top left area
a.jpg
and select "Add to Playlist" and choose the name of the play list you want to add this to. (In my case "green").
the playlist will then look like this.
a.jpg

OK you now have music in your test playlist. You now need to move to your B2's front panel and using the menus
do this command
a.jpg

When it is finished (not long) please then press and hold in the "Play/Stop" button on the B2 until "saving appears on the front display. Then release the button and wait until the clock appears. Power the B2 off and then on again.
After it has booted, go to the Web UI and select USB C - this should show you what you have put on the USB stick.

Hope this helps,

Fred

Hi Guys,

1.  The 'Export Playlist' function ONLY works to USB C.

2.  When you plug the USB stick into USB C, after a few seconds you should see, on the front panel display at the bottom, a scrolling line which shows 'USB C: Mass Storage Mounted'.              When you see this message, then the Brennan is happy with the memory stick and the format.

Then follow Fred's instuctions for adding to the chosen playlist.

Regards,
Peter.

When I look at the USB Menu on the website, I don't see an option for Export to A.  But I think if you power up with the USB stick plugged into USB A, the menu option may change to Export to A.
