Does anyone have any experience with the Teufel Cinebar One soundbar ?  In particular if it pairs with the B2, it looks like it ticks all the right boxes for me otherwise (the main one being that its compact and won't upset the way Mrs. P likes the living room looking too much ;-) but other than that it looks like a fairly high spec with good connections and I'd really like it to also beef up the sound from my TV/PC setup.

However its expensive and I cant run the risk of it not working with the B2

Any info would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Tim,

A quick look at the spec's for the Teufel shows it has an optical input. I would suggest you use that to get best quality sound from the B2.

You'll need a mini TOS Link to Standard TOS Link cable to connect the two - see our Shop.

Hi Paul, thanks for that but I'd planned to buy a soundbar for my TV and PC (which is under the TV) and have the B2 which is in the kitchen drive the sound bar by Bluetooth. The B2 is currently hard wired to a little pair of Castle Trent speakers in the kitchen and had hoped to Bluetooth the B2 to a new speaker in the living room. I take it this option is ok just so long as the B2 pairs with any new speaker I buy for the TV/Living room ?

I just liked to sound of this Teufel.

Cheers

Tim,
You might be interested in this quote from the Brennan website:

"Bluetooth Out
We are no longer advertising the Bluetooth Out feature. It hasn’t been dropped from the software so you can try it. However there are a few incompatible speakers out there and the problems are beyond our control - they stem from Linux itself. Bluetooth out wasn’t part of the original B2 specification so we decided to remove it from the specification. Many B2 owners are using it quite happily so we'll keep in the software even though we are not promoting it. So try it but no guarantees."

Hi Tim,

Regarding the statement Daniel posted we have found that the B2 works well with a lot of Bluetooth devices. I do know that certain of the Bose models (Soundtouch series if I remember correctly - search on the Forum) don't want to connect but many others have used BT speakers and Headphones OK.

Concerning Bluetooth it can have a very limited range in some setups, especially where there are walls in the signal path. So you would need to check this in your particular situation i.e. kitchen to lounge.

Hi Tim,

Rick sent me an email regarding the Bose -

Paul, I installed a Bose Soundtouch 10 on bluetooth and the B2 I have doesn't seem to have any problems. It remembers the paired device and all I have to do sometimes is check the "paired" box in bluetooth settings within the web UI. I had a Creative Labs D-100 prior to getting the Bose Soundtouch 10 and didn't have any issues with it either.

Quick Update to this thread if anyone’s interested ,

I bought the Teufel speaker and its working perfectly with the B2 (exactly how I’d hoped) however as discussed earlier range is the limiting factor however luckily mine seems to be at, or just inside the range limit. My B2 lives inside a cupboard in the kitchen and most of the time just drives an old pair of Castle Trent Speakers which still sound fantastic  BTW !  My new Speaker sits with the TV in the living room and has the TV and a PC connected to it. After initially pairing with the B2 (which was quick and simple) if the B2 is on all I have to do is switch to Bluetooth on the speaker remote and it automatically plays from the B2, so no other additional searching or pairing when you want to use it.

Only Issues have been :

1.       Very slight lag between the sound in the two rooms so as you walk from one to the other there is a slight echo sounds a bit like being at a Festival but fine once you are properly in the room, or not a problem at all if you are only using either one set of speakers or the other  and not both together. (But I usually use both)

2.       When you switch the BT speaker off, this also seems to force the B2 to stop and restart ? ... is this normal behaviour ?  I only notice this as I’ve mostly had both sets of speaker on, If I was only using the BT speaker , not really a problem,  but I’d prefer the B2 to keep playing in the other room ?

3.       I’ve noticed occasionally the BT speaker stutter, normally when someone is standing in the kitchen doorway (directly between the two) but as the B2 is shut in a kitchen cabinet I think a USB extension lead with a hole In the cabinet top will allow the BT dongle to sit on top in the open but also a little closer to get a better signal to the speaker.

As far as for my thoughts on the little Teufel Cinebar  ? It’s hugely impressive for its size (you can hardly see it in my set up)  with massive base and a really decent Quality sound with loads of inputs and features.  Very expensive but it was unfortunately the only thing that ticked all the boxes for me and didn’t look like a Sound bar apparently for Mrs P ;-)

We’re listening to so much more music these days and my music setup is perfect thanks to the B2 !

Cheers

Tim.

Hi Tim,

Thank you for the positive feedback. It is good to know when things work well as well as dealing with issues and problems.

In answer to your questions -

1. Bluetooth can have an audio lag caused by the encoding (for transmission) and decoding (receiving end) of the signal.

2. This is a strange one - the B2 doesn't support AVRCP (remote control signals over BT from the paired device - such as FFWD, RWD, PAUSE, etc) so should not react to any command from the Teufel to restart - so not sure what is going on. I'll set up my various BT speakers and see if any of those do the same.

3. The stuttering is typical of BT being out of range or receiving a poor signal and definitely an indication that the BT signal is being interrupted by the person standing in the door.  The USB extension cable idea is worth a try - let us know if it improves things.

I noticed that nobody has explained this one yet.  I too am interested in the answer.  It seems strange that the B2 should reboot whenever Bluetooth is disconnected.  Could this be a problem that needs attention?

Hi Daniel,

I think 'the B2 resetting when the connected Bluetooth device is turned off' is a work around for problems encountered with some Bluetooth devices.

I will let Martin know.
