My Brennan B2 has all of my CDs' names and titles (artists, albums and songs) stored in its memory, but the music isn't in there.  The whole list of songs, albums and artists appears in the middle column of the web dashboard, but when I click on the play button next to the artist/album/song-title, nothing happens.

This happens for MOST, but not all, of my titles.

When I put the original CD back into the unit to try to re-rip it, it doesn't recognize any of the information on the CD, and just gives it some arbitrary title, like CD 443, and calls the songs Track 1, Track 2, etc.

Please help!

Hi Rob
This seems to be an issue with the Web Dashboard (the user interface) and hopefully not the B2

What model of B2 do you have, does it have a HDD or is it an SD only model

Using the B2's front panel & Looking at the menus here https://www.brennan.co.uk/itemcontent.php/content/Menus

Could you tell us the strength of your WiFi connection
Have you tried running a "Scan Disk" if not do so

What browser are you using clearing the browser cash could help.

On information scrolling on the front panel, look to see if it says "Source: HDD" or "Source: SD card" or something similar.  If it says Souce: SD card, then you need to run the Use HDD command (Maintenance menu).  It should work the first time and your B2 would reboot, but sometimes it's necessary to run it more than once.

Hi Rob,

For the non-playing issue I would run Scan Disk - Settings menu and if that doesn't help - on your browser run 'clear browser data (if the browser if Chrome select 'cookies and other site data' and 'cached images and files') > open a new browser page > enter the IP Address manually rather than using a bookmark or shortcut.

For the CDs not being recognised, try doing a Web Upgrade - Settings menu - to get the latest software.

Let us know how it goes.

Gentlemen,

To answer Daniel's question, when I boot up the Brennan B2, it does say "Source: Hard Disk," so I'm presuming that answers Fred's question as well as to whether my model has a HDD (which I'm presuming means "hard disk drive").  Since it doesn't say "Source: SD Card", I didn't run the "Use HDD Command" from the Maintenance menu.

I tried Paul's suggestion of running a Scan Disk from the Settings menu.  That did seem to help.  So far, I tried a few of the CDs that weren't playing, and now they are.

I'll keep you all updated.  Thank you for the suggestions!

Hi Rob,

Scan Disk rebuilds the internal database of titles that the B2 uses to locate and play music and is the go-to command when this sort of issue occurs.
