I’m using the original web interface, I’m just curious, how does it decide which albums to highlight on the right side and in the middle? There seems to be no rhyme or reason, sometimes it’s the same album for hours and multiple refreshes other times it changes every two minutes. I tried the new interface but it starts with the same three albums every time, which also are the same three albums I digitized in the beginning…plus I don’t like change it frightens and confuses me…

Also I use an iPad, does anyone use laptops any more? I have hardly cracked mine open in months…

I still use the original interface, sometimes on a laptop sometimes on an Ipad.
The panels you refer to are pretty useless as they are and I suggested it would be far more useful if they showed details of the album playing, in the lower panel and any other albums by the same artist, in the upper panel.
This does happen if you click on the details in the top left panel but it's an extra step which shouldn't be neccessary.

The upper left panel, of course, shows the track that is playing.  The center column is for the artists - listed in either alphabetical order, or the order in which Scan Disk encounters them on the disk (which starts out as the order they were added to the disk).  When you click on an artist in the center column, all their albums appear in the upper right corner panel.  When you click on one of those albums, all the tracks for that album appear in the lower right panel.

I think one of the reasons it's set up that way is so that you can browse for what you want to play next while a song continues in the upper left panel.  Works well for me.

Thanks, Daniel, but don't you agree it would be more useful it worked the way I described? Often when listening to a track I'm inspired to listen to more tracks from that album or investigate other music by the artist and my suggestion facilitates that.
Plus there's nothing to stop me browsing elesewhere.

I agree with Daniel - I think that the existing interface functionality does what you say you need
I'm inspired to listen to more tracks from that album  - the bottom right window does that for you and the top right window shows you all the albums by the artist you are listening to.

Yes Fred, but it only does that if you click on the details shown in the top left. I'm simply saying it would be nice if you didn't have to do that.

But then you would lose the ability to plan what you wanted to listen to next if you did not want to just do what you suggest. The present config is the most flexible.

Why? You can still select an artist, album, or song from the middle panel. You just won't see some random artist/album shown on the right.
Anyhoo it's all academic as none of the suggestions for possible improvements I have made over the years have ever happened.

Woe is me and have a lovely Sunday.

I like it as it is. A tap on the top left album name to bring all its details up again when I open the WebUI  is easy and I like that the right hand panels throw up a random album which I’ve forgotten about and reminds me of it.

Hi All,

I'm a 'Remainer'; I like the WebUI as it is.  You can see what is playing as well as be able to plan ahead at the same time.

Regards,
Peter.

There are probably as many different opinions as to how it should work as there are different users.  I was trying to explain how it does work, and why.  Personally, I like it.  Everyone is entitiled to their own opinion.  But the product is what it is.  Getting the most out of it is easier when you understand how it works.

Choose your battles wisely.
So I'll just give up on this one, even if I am right, and go back to suggesting improvements to the limited Random function.
