Scrolling wouldn’t stop on B2

I’ve had a connection problem recently, which I’ve posted here. It’s just a slight irritation with an intermittent inability to control from the iPad or a lagging. Things improved but deteriorated again.

One phenomenon was that a recently disc, whose details weren’t found and whose tracks I was naming  by copy and paste from discogs, suddenly lost tracks at the end.  I was doing nothing else at the time. The last track available played Ok but its name just kept scrolling when finished as if it or something wanted to carry on playing. All tracks have now re-appeared, presumably after I scanned.

I decided to put the B2 higher up in order for it to be nearer the booster upstairs. The wifi signal improved and there was no lagging between iPad and machine. However the  info on thé screen does not stop but continuously scrolls through - ie wired speakers, IP address, number of albums etc. The machine seems too hot.

Since writing  I’ve rebooted and all seems OK now. Should I be worried? (And what happened to those tracks which disappeared?)
Software is the latest B2b

Just a theory but have you played the disc before? - It might be an Easter Egg? - Some CD's (especially from the early '90s) would 'hide' a track by leaving a long-gap between the last listed song, then including a hidden bonus track.  However, the palyer would see at just on long-track.

No, I hadn’t played it before and it was an old recording, though as it was Schumann’s cello concerto with orchestra conducted by Haitinck I doubt it has anything like that. It’s interesting to know that. They’ve all reappeared but haven’t tried them.

Hi Rik,
Unless I am wrong the B2 will scroll the status info about speakers etc. until it goes into standby from inactivity (5 mins) so that's perfectly normal

I should have timed it but it was much longer than that.

Hi Rik,

If the B2 WebUI is left active, then that is considered to be an active process and the B2 will not go into standby.  Is that a possibility?

Regards,
Peter.

I don’t think so, Peter. Nothing was different to what  I always do. The unit was hot as it is now, having been on standby since I wrote several hours ago. It isn’t usually hot, especially if it’s just on standby. I’m going to switch off now and see how it is in the morning.

Hi Rik,

The B2 will run warmer when doing something like Compressing or ripping but should not get 'hot'.

I think running Scan Disk probably recovered the missing tracks - Scan Disk rebuilds the internal database that the B2 uses to locate and play your music.

Thanks for replying. It wasn’t doing anything but will keep an eye, or a hand, on it and see how it goes.
