The web ui on my B2 has suddenly stopped working, on all devices - my Windows 10 desktop, 2 android tablets and an android 11 phone. I haven't done anything on my computer setup.  I tried rebooting the B2 several times, it's still not working. I checked the IP address - it hasn't changed, it's still 192.168.1.84

The B2 is still working OK on direct control, from both the device and the Brennan remote control. Is this likely to be a B2 problem or a wifi/network problem? If the former, can I try setting a new IP address? (I've forgotten how to do this manually - I don't think I ever had to do it, it was set automatically)

Thanks.
Andrew

For reference, this is the error  (this message is the Windows 10 one)
My network and my B2 are otherwise all working fine.

The first thing to ask in this case is:  What is your WiFi Strength?  That command is on the Maintenance menu.  If it's better than -50 then we'll look for other problems.  (-40 is better than -50)

Also, please tell us what version of software your B2 is running.  Press Info buttom on remote twice to see version on front panel.

Since I'm not familiar with many models, I must ask how old are your tablets and phones?

Daniel, many thanks for the prompt reply.
Wifi varies between -60 and -41, seems to hover around 50.
I long ago bought an extra booster antenna to replace the default supplied wifi dongle and boost the signal because the B2 is next door to my router, and it has all worked fine for the 3 yrs I have had the device.

Thanks for the reminder about software. I noticed it was last upgraded to the 21st Jun version, so I just upgraded to the 9th Dec issue, but that hasn't solved the problem.  The IP address remains at 192.168.1.84.   It still isn't working.

Desktop : Dell XPS 18 with Windows 10, kept reasonably  up to date. My thought was perhaps a recent Win 10 update caused the problem, except there hasn't been an update for a couple of weeks at least, and the web UI was working a couple of days ago.

Phone: Moto One Action, which uses Android 10 (not 11 as I said earlier). It uses Google One, which is automatically updating to the latest Android as Google issues it.

Tablet:  Samsung Tab S2 8in
Tablet:  Google Nexus 9in (2014, an older Android that is no longer update)

Everything has worked fine for ages on all the devices, and the B2 itself (apart from the Web UI) is still fine. the Web UI  just suddenly stopped a couple of days ago, that's all, which led me to wonder if its a problem with the B2 rather than the four disparate computers.

Cheers

Hi Andrew - Is it possible for you to detach the B2 from its speakers for a couple of mins and just power up the B2 in another room - closer to the router, just as a test to see if you can connect again. I had to do this recently and was able to connect to WiFi in the alternative location. Then when I connected the B2 back in its usual spot I was able to connect to WiFi as normal. I know it's a bit of a pain but it did work for me. Make sure you power down safely by pressing Play/Stop while the B2 shows Saving and then returns to the Clock display - IF you decide to try the above. Cheers Russ

Hi Andrew, from the front control, can you select an internet radio station, any one will do, and does it play ok?

Mike/Russell, Sorry, I'm not sure if I made myself clear.  As I said earlier, the B2 works absolutely fine, including on internet radio, and I mostly use it on internet radio anyway. There's is no problem with connecting the B2 to the internet.

But I can only control the B2 from the unit itself or the officially supplied remote control.
It's only the WebUI on computer (Windows desktop or my three Android devices) that's not working. Thanks for any hints on getting it working again.

Hi Andrew

I would recommend that you try rebooting your router - un plug it, wait 30 seconds then plug it in again (and make sure it powers up) wait 5 mins then try things again. This may cure your problem.

Fred, YES! That did work, many thanks. I had assumed that it wasn't the router because everything else on my home network was working fine.
But clearly, restarting the router did work, for some reason.

Even routers blow their little brain out on occasions! :))

My router which is provided by AT&T has to be power cycled every couple of months.  And it's not just this particular one.  It's been replaced several times in a (failed) attempt to solve problems.

I'm glad you got your problem solved.  Keep that knowledge in the back of your head for next time.  :o)
