Well, technically the term "
ripping" is used to describe the process of converting the "analog" sound tracks from a CD to a digital file format like MP3 or FLAC (yes, I know that's a simplification).
If you have music on your computer, it has already been ripped.
So what you are really asking is how do you transfer the individual songs you've collected on your computer to the B2? There are a at least 4 ways to do that :
- use low level command line ssh/scpsftp copy commands from a terminal shell window
- enable NAS access to move folders and files directly
- use your web browser to copy one song at a time using the Upload function of the B2's web interface
- copy all your songs from your PC to a USB stick, plug the stick into USB ports C on the back of the B2, and import using the B2 menu option for USB import
I'm going to guess that option 4 will be the easiest to understand and the fastest?
What you want to do is copy your music from your PC to a USB stick organized into folders as artist/album/track.
If you're feeling lazy and don't want to sort the tracks that way, just make a folder on your USB stick called Random Artists and a folder inside that called Random Tracks. Copy all your individual music files to that subfolder.
Note that if you're importing from iTunes or some other music player, your songs may already be sorted correctly in to folders and subfolders.
Here's the Brennan description of the "Import USB C" USB menu function (link :
Brennan B2 Menus )
Load music from a drive in USB C. Ideally the music will be organised as artist->album->track. (Used by iTunes for example)
