I've had this message come up a couple of times, and I've always got round it by unplugging it and plugging it in again.

Am I doing the right thing, or is there a problem?

Hi,

If this is happening often, you need to backup your music re-format the HDD and restore the music.

Hi Adam,

Everett is correct you need to back up your music and reformat the HDD. There is some info on doing this here.

Hi Paul. My B2 will not reformat. I have backed up files and carried out all the instructions. It refuses to wipe what is on the HDD!

Hi Adam,

What did you have to do to get the 'Format HDD' to work? Might be useful for others....

I don't know, I tried it again a bit later and it worked!

When trying to back up using "Export to C" I get the warning "HDD is read only". No backing up takes place. The B2 is ripping CDs perfectly, however.
Is there no alternative to re-formatting the disc and inserting a back up?

I've successfully completed a back-up of 2,000 CDs without a recurrence of the "Hard Drive Is Read Only" warning. Its earlier appearances must have been a glitch - I hope.

Hi Steve,

That's great, thanks for letting us know.

Are you enjoying using the B2?

Very much, Paul, thank you. It presents a continuous challenge, which stops the blood thickening.  This morning the (Virgin) broadband had a general breakdown in the area, and since it's come back, the B2 announces that it's ripping a cd and then ejects it before it's started.
No doubt it will settle down again. I need some system to have the same effect, for example, as holding a cross to a vampire, to sort all these glitches  when they occur!

Have you tried drapping a garland of garlic over your B2. Must admit I haven't had too many glitches. Most were Web UI and WiFi strength related, and were sorted out by getting the long antenna Martin suggested. Love this wee machine

Leslie.
