Hi Rich,
The Brennan works by first ripping the CDs in '.wav' format to the HDD. Then, if the Brennan is not doing any more ripping and the WebUI is closed, after 5 minutes of 'quiet time' the B2 will automatically go into 'Standby' and start compressing the 'wav' files to the selected compression type. This means that you can rip a batch of say 30 CDs in the evening and the B2 will compress them overnight, while nothing else is going on. Then if you open up the WebUI, the compression stops until the next 'quiet time' when it will start up automatically again.
An alternative is to use the 'Compress Now' function in the 'Settings' menu, which will start the compressiom immediately.
I don't do batches any greater than 30, because the B2 can become overloaded, and other have encountered problems with corrupt files when they have tried to process large batches in one go.
Also, I don't use the B2 for anything else (e.g. playing music or the internet radio) while ripping, as this has also caused problems on the B2. I let it do one job at a time and as a result I have two good running trouble free B2s (the older one is over 4 years old now)
Regards,
Peter.
