Hello,

I am running a backup of my JB7 to a Freecom USB1 HDD (the one Brennan used to supply - I bought it about 11 years ago). It seems to be working fine.

The back up was going well (albeit very slowly, as expected) and had been running for about 8 hours. I had noticed the JB7 getting hot, but thought of the ambient temperature.
I checked the Forum but couldn't find any threads on JB7 temps. I left it but on returning found it displaying a message saying 'Halted Code 8'. I turned it off.

I
There is no reference to this error message on the Forum, or on the Brennan website, as far as a quick check reveals.

Has anyone with a JB7 come across this? Know what it means?
Thanks, Leslie S

Hi Leslie,

I've asked AudioTech - our service agent who handle all JB7 related matters for us - about this.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for getting back to me. I re-started the JB7 this morning. No ill effects, it seems. I re-started the back-up, and it went through the folders and tracks it had already read, and started again where it left off (so doesn't duplicate the back-up).
It has now been working for two hours, but the casing is getting hot again. I may just have to use it for 4-6 hours max, then let it cool down again, until the ambient temperature cools down (as it is due to).

It would help to know what that code message means, and if there are any other codes that might pop up on screen too (and what they mean).
I'll look forward to AudioTech's response.
Thanks,
Leslie

Hi Leslie,

I cannot help directly with 'Halted Code 8' but we recently helped with another forum user who reported 'Halted Code 5 '.  When he ran 'Maintenance' --> 'Map Disk' that function fixed his problem, which indicated that the error was related to some sort of disk corruption.

'Halted Code 5'  'Disk is corrupt, run ‘Disk Test’ and ‘Map Disk’ (if necessary)'

Regards,
Peter.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for responding, and for that suggestion. Next time I am not backing-up (I am currently doing it in 4-6 hour stints, with two hours resting time between to let the JB7 'cool' off) I will have a look at doing that.
This back-up is a big one as I am 'fixing' an issue with track numbering, to ensure that I have a master copy of all my music on the JB7 in track within album order. Previous back-ups had listed it all alphabetically. I have been tracking threads about this issue.
Always something going on with Brennans!!
Regards,
Leslie
