Hello everyone.
My B2 is a couple of years old now, and not been used for the last few months, due to lockdown stuff. I go to use it last week, from the Hard drive. I pick an album, press "play" on my card, Nothing happens! no sound, nothing, although the screen is showing the track. Try another album, ..nothing, just silence. Speakers wired and plugged, yes, volume up, yes.
Try the radio? nothing. Reboot the wifi, done, " success" it said, no sound.
Power off, power on, done, no change. Reboot, no change, Scan disk, no change.
Web update, nothing is heard, just silence.
Check on the dashboard on my pc, it says my Hard drive is "paused"
Try the radio, that's "paused"
Getting fed up now.
I'm not technically minded, or even computer literate, but any ideas?, anyone?
I just want my music back.

I think you have speakers wired directly to the B2.  Those speaker terminals are extremely close together.  If a stray wire strand should touch across the termnials, it could shut off the amp as it tries to protect itself from a short circuit.  Also, believe it or not, I've seen dust become conductive just enough to short out an electronics circuit.  So clean up those contacts and make sure nothing is touching that shouldn't be.

Hi ben

You say "Web update, nothing is heard, just silence. " please can you tell us the Version of the OS you see when you press "info" on the remote twice.
also
You say "Check on the dashboard on my pc, it says my Hard drive is "paused"
Try the radio, that's "paused"" by "dashboard" I presume you mean the Web IU as below circled in red?

If so then click on the button circled in Yellow and the music should start to play (that is the pause/play button.

Hi Ben,

From the web UI (dashboard) click the COG to open Settings >> check if 'Audio on HDMI (TV)' is selected (tick in the box) - it needs to be 'not selected'. Toggle it a couple of times, while playing something, to make sure it is off.

Hello Fred,

Thanks for asking, but no, nothing has helped me get sound out of my B2. The process may of ruled out things, that is causing the problem (lets be positive), but still no joy.
I did give it another go yesterday, through the menu, as you do, and when I asked it to do something (I can't remember what), it flashed up UPGRADE SD?
I have had to set up my Wi-Fi again, as it lost it somehow. Still have "Hard disk paused" and/or Internet radio paused.

Regards
Colin

Hello again Fred,
Just had another look at what I call the dash board, or Web IU?
I'm trying to play from the Hard Disk, Nick Drake, but even though the track / album is scrolling on the B2 screen, it never moves on to the next track, hence "Paused", but also the time slider on the Web IU seems greyed out. The graph graphic is flat lining.
Ideas on a postcard please
Colin

Hello All,
Well I did return my B2 for the experts to look at.
They have emailed me back, with " It just needed a new SD card"  What! is that all?
The silent B2, with it's everything paused, HD, CD and radio. No music or sound off anything, Updates, reboots and all, just a new SD card.
Oh well, it should be done soon and returned back to me, so I can enjoy my collection of weird & wonderful music.

Regards
Colin

Hi Colin,

The SD Card holds the operating software for the B2 which could have got corrupted somehow.

Also as I understand it, SD Cards have a limited number of Write cycles and do wear out.

Let us know how it goes.
