Ive recently been ripping my cds into my new B2. However one wont rip. It’s not damaged in any way, plays perfectly ok on my players and rips fine to iTunes on my pc. Any ideas?

Good to know I’m not alone but would be good if someone could explain. Work around, ripping using iTunes, copying to usb and then importing is a bit irritating and results in lossy compression.

Rip to windows media player, if you have it, then transfer via NAS or  USB.

Jeff, if I use windows media player can I get a lossless file such as raw? Still a bit of a fiddly process. What I’m really interested in is why there’s an issue with the B2.

I ripped mine to FLAC, it's on the rip settings in media player, also it will give you titles, and maybe art too!

When this happens it is usually because there is a VIDEO file on the disk (as well as the music tracks) - check to see if this is the case.

I don't rip CDs on the B2 (just so you know where I'm coming from).  That seems to be involved in a fair percentage of the problems reported in the forum.  To save one's sanity and temper, expectations could be lowered and just understand that some CDs can't be ripped on the B2.

Some folks are happy buying a low cost external CD/DVD drive.  It will be successful with more discs, and it is usually noticeably faster.

I do all my ripping on my computer using dBpoweramp CD Ripper.  I rip directly to FLAC, so there is no loss of resolution.  Then I copy to both a USB stick and my two backup disks, and then use the Import command to load onto the B2.  You can also do it via NAS.

Hi All,

This can happen when the CDDB is different from the CD i.e. there are more or less tracks on the CD. So check the track listing for the CDs that won't rip - click the title shown on the web UI to see the track listing.

I’ve just ripped over 300 CDs and have one double album that not only won’t rip it actually briefly shuts the B2 down, the display goes blank and it restarts and spits out the CD. The CDs are fine and I ripped them on my computer, CDDB was fine all info retrieved correctly. Just something about these CDs that trips the B2 up.

Hi Cam,

do the CDs have any non-audio files on them e.g. videos ?
The B2 is known to have problems with CDs that have non-audio files.
I would upload the ripped files from your computer using the Web UI

I had this problem, and it wasn't  due to a non music file on the cd.
This worked for me:-
when the data base identifies the disc, turn knob until you get to the 1 Album 876 for example.
Now try ripping. Then rename artist and Title.
