Hello All,

I've just noticed this issue.

For the record, I have a B2B -2TB, internet connection via Ethernet, and have tried both the latest stable software and the latest experimental software and the behaviour seems to remain the same.

The issue that I am seeing is that whilst playing an album (and I have tried many) the track progress bar on the Web UI seems to operate normally and it is possible to advance the position in the track being played. This seems to be the case for all tracks except for the last track in an album. When trying to adjust the position of the slider (backwards or forwards) in the last track of an album, it invariably stops playing and appears paused. Clicking on the play button causes the box to jump to a totally different album by a different artist.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,

what platform and web browser are you using for the Web UI.

what version of the B2 software are you using ?

Are you using a mouse/tracking device or is it touch screen ?

I have tried what you describe using both Chrome and MS Edge browsers on a Windows 11 PC and cannot reproduce the problem you are seeing.

I can move the slider back and forth with a mouse and the track keeps playing albeit with a momentary pause on occasions

I am using  B2B Oct 22 2021 12:29:15

Hi John,

I have tried the B2B Oct22 2021 software and also the current experimental software with similar results.

I have tried the Web UI on a Windows 10 desktop with mouse using Safari browser and also a Linux laptop with trackpad using both Chromium and Firefox browsers. All works well except for the last track on an album. I've also tried the new and original flavours of the Web UI on the laptop and again its the same.

Hi Peter,

intriguing.
You have already tried different content, devices and browsers so there is something else causing it.
You could try clearing the browser cache but I don't really see why that would have an impact.
Others may have some thoughts and I am sure will Paul from Brennan will pick up on this thread for comment.

As an update I have collected some debug data from a 'normal' event that works as expected and a last track in an album where it just stops.  The debug screen was cleared before the progress bar was advanced in each case. The text files are named normal.txt and lasttrack.txt to reflect the two events.

lasttrack.txt
normal.txt

Hi John,

Thanks for checking on your setup and confirming that it should work.

I have tried another two devices, neither of which had connected to the Brennan before. Again, no difference. One was a Linux laptop and the other a Win 10 desktop, both running Safari. browser.

Hi Peter,

I think it may be related to Classical Mode

You have Classical mode ON and I have it OFF.

I switched to ON and although I don't get quite the same the Web UI behaviour it does behave oddly.
This seems to be the clue.

Well done John!

Yes, that was it. I switched OFF Classical mode and it now works as expected, so it only appears to be a problem when in Classical mode. Hopefully Brennan will take a look at this.

Thanks,

Peter

In Classical mode it's supposed to stop after playing the last track of the current album. Apparently trying to seek within the last track makes the software think it's stopped playing that track -- which it sort of has, since it can't be playing while it's seeking... In other words, unexpected behavior, but not incomprehensible behavior.

Maybe there's a different way for Martin to test that the last track has *finished* instead of simply stopped.
