Radio and ‘Find’ problem

My B2 seems to have developed two problems which I’m not sure how to resolve. Firstly, when I switch it to ‘Radio’ on the remote, it shows the station (Radio Two in my case) but then a second or so later makes a slight ‘popping’ sound and switches back to the main display. The clock works so it doesn’t seem to be a WiFi connection issue.

Also, when I ‘Find’ a track or artist it shows their details (eg. which album) but when I press ‘Play album’ it won’t, but just switches back to the main (clock) display. I’ve tried the ‘Web update’ and ‘Scan disc’ options suggested on the Troubleshooting page but these have made no difference. If I just press ‘Play’ it plays what it feels like but track or album selection is not possible. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in anticipation!  Vic

Hi Victoria.

Please will you press "info" - on your remote - twice and tell us what is on the front display in terms of the Software version.

Thanks

Hi Victoria. When using the forum please go back to it and use the Forum or the conversations are not visible to the Forum community.

Victoria mailed me direct with this

I tried both functions again just now. Radio still not working but the Find function did (found album and actually played it!) A photo of my info display is attached.

Thanks for your help

Well Victoria you are no the latest release of the B2's software (the B2 version). So we are OK there

I know you said that you think that your WiFi connection is OK, but the problems you are having do seem to point towards that being the issue (despite the clock being OK)
Could I ask you to use the front panel and the round knob to do this.
"Main Menu > Settings > Maintenance > WiFi Strength"
and report back what it says.

Thanks

Fred

Can I add to this and other forum members with the same issue. Suddenly, I don't know if it is since I last carried out a web upgrade, my internet radio is doing the same as Victorias.  In the end I ran an ethernet cable from my router to the Brennan B2, and rebooted my router.  I can see a healthy IP address for the WiFi component and also the Ethernet component.  I disconnected the Wifi dongle to negate any confusion, rebooted the Brennan checked I had acquired my IP address and tried the intenet radio option.  As before it thought about it for a few seconds rhen took me back to the main screen (clock)

Could this issue be caused by the BBCs recent changes?
Have you tried searching for the station concerned on Vtuner and re-saving it on the pre-set?

Hi Brian,
The first station my internet radio looks at is RTE so I think it is more a software glitch type thing rather than BBC

There are two threads I've read today about users having the radio function play briefly and then stop. I am running Software Version B2 Feb 14 2021 09:46:20 and my Internet Radio function seems to work fine <knock wood> -- I tried BBC Radio 3, Scala Radio, and VPR Classical.

Maybe there really has been something broken between 14 Feb and current software.

Hi, I had problems with my google account, update further to my previous, rather than use the remote and front panel I tried the web UI and hey, it works.  The minute I go back to front panel and remote, no joy

Hi All,

I'm running 22 March 2021 software and have tried a selection of radio stations and they appear to work OK. So probably not a software issue.

Ian - what's the full name for the RTE station and I will give it a try?

Hi Victoria,

For the Artist/Album/Track not playing issue - navigate to the Advanced menu (using the front control) and make sure TV UI is turned off - Settings >> Maintenance >> Advanced >> TV UI Off.

So, Paul from Brennan Support has solved my prob and it was a case of re-tune all your BBC pre-sets from the web UI and Vtuner and re-allocate your presets from the re-tune.  Still don't know why I couldn't make the front panel do it but hey prob solved.  The Irish channel I mentioned earlier had also co-incidentally disappeared hence clouding the issue
