White Noise / Interference ?

Morning,

I purchased a B2 before christmas and have been ripping plenty of CD's since then, but it was only this last weekend that I connected it up to speakers properly and listenend to it.
During quiet sections of the tracks I can hear some white noise, it is only faint but noticeable.
To test this, I turned the volume down completely, stopped the track, the noise went, started the track, the noise came back. I have tried several tracks/cds etc and this happens on them all.
If I go to bluetooth headphones, the noise dissapears, so it seems it is the speaker outputs that are of concern. I have tried swapping leads around, moving power supplies (as other thread suggests) but nothing seem to work.
Any other suggestions ?
I will be driving it through a 30w Denon amp via toslink when it arrives and I suspect this will cure the problem, however I will still have a slightly dodgy B2.
Speakers are 6 ohm, 75w QAcoustics, connected on high quality cables

cheers

Hi Spencerf...,

From your description it does sound like a possible fault with the power amplifier stage - it is a digital amplifier so you may be hearing some switching noise.

There will always be some noise at low level - is it audible on quiet passages or only when the B2 is paused?

as soon as I press play, and turn the volume to zero, its there constantly, the best I can describe it is like wind blowing through a gap in a window during a gale, if I press pause it stops. I also noticed tonight, whilst it was backing up over the wi-fi that there are static clicks, in time with the blue light on the the wi-fi arial, so I removed both usb devices (bluetooth and wi-fi) and tried again, the low level noise was there still but static clicks had gone so it is picking up some interference from the wi-fi also.
As mentioned, I have an amplifier on the way, I will see how it behaves with the Toslink connection and will re-post an update, but even if this does improve the situation I think it will still need action to resolve the problem.

cheers

Russell

Are you able to try wired headphones? That would help confirm the problem is at the power amp/speaker outputs rather than further back in the signal path.

I have a B2 which is approximately 4 years old. I have just noticed that I am getting white noise through my speakers at the end of tracks, just for a second or two. Nothing through head phones.

I have tried wired headphones and there is no noticeable white noise when used

Hi spencerf...,

That appears to narrow it down to the amplifier stage. Your unit can either be replaced or repaired. Please email us on -   thebrennanb2   @   gmail   .   com   - no spaces, with a brief description of the issue and we will get it sorted.

Hi Paul.

Yes, every track. It seems that it is only affecting one speaker. I thought I would check the speaker so I swapped over the leads and the white noise went to the other speaker. I did suspect the speaker lead so i have ordered a new set from you.

Good to see progress on this. I'd just thought to ask if the noise was on both channels or just one but you beat me to it.

Ok, I have replaced the speaker leads and swapped speakers but I am still getting a hiss/white noise from one speaker at the end of every track. Anybody?

Hi Mike...,

As the hiss noise is only affecting one channel I would suspect a faulty amplifier chip. Please email us on -   thebrennanb2   @   gmail   .   com   - no spaces, with a brief description of the problem and we will send the return for repair instructions.
