Hello Brennan experts, I'd appreciate your help. Thank you.

Am considering buying a B2, but it's a major investment so I need to check some things that were unclear (to me, anyway) on the official literature. The first is the most important:

1. I create compilations of live tracks in Logic which run between 1 hour 30 mins to 2 hours. Can the B2 convert wav files that are 1GB+ in size to flac files?

2. The official literature mentions including different file formats (mp3 etc.) via a USB drive - does this mean that you can't copy them onto the B2 hard disk for some reason?

3. If you have a playlist that mixes file types (some songs as flac files, some as mp3 or AAC) will they still play and will there be any discrepancies in level because of the different file formats?

Apologies if any of these are stupid questions - brain's not so sharp these days!

Thanks

Your questions are certainly not stupid.  Very good, actually.

1) I would convert such large files to their final format before transferring to the B2.  There are a number of programs that can do that.  I use dBpoweramp.  To actually answer your question though, the B2 should be able to convert such a large file, but the larger the file, the greater the chance that something would go wrong.  Save yourself the worry and do the conversion on the computer first.

2) Files can be transferred to the B2 in three different ways:  1) via USB stick using the Import command;  2) via the WebUI using the Upload command; 3) via NAS directly copied from computer to B2 HDD.  Must run the Scan Disk command after ward.  We can guide you further for any of those options.

3) You can mix filetypes in a playlist without any problem.  Volume differences would not be because of a difference in filetype, but there could be differences inherent to the original mastering process.  There has been some discussion of this in the forum.

Hi inkythi..,

To add to Daniel's spot on reply - the B2 will store and play a mix of WAV (the original format found on CDs), FLAC, MP3 and AAC/M4A formats and does not distinguish between them when playing back.
