Hi, one of my 3 B2 units started playing up after much re arranging of SD cards and dongle it was clear the intermittent dongle was playing up badly, so went on line and purchased a new dongle
Went on forum and read about re naming router wi fi signals now all done and still cant see network using the new dongles ??
PS why cant i just buy one from Brennan ?? can B2 pick up both wi fi signals 2.4 and 5 GHz

From my own experience, the B2 doesn't like the Realtek chips that are used for many of the dual band wifi dongles. (My desktop Linux system doesn't like them, either.) When I was testing to see if I could get a more solid wifi connection, I found that this unit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KWQAQ00/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) worked OK.
(Wireless Wifi USB Dongle Stick Adapter RT5370 150Mbps for MAG 254 250 255 270 275 IPTV Set-Top Box, Jynxbox, Linkbox, Raspberry Pi, Pc Laptops Desktop, for Win7, Win8, Mac OS, Linux)
But what really got me a more stable wifi connection was putting the Brennan tiny dongle on a short USB extender cable so it was a foot away from the body of the B2.
I hope this helps -- Mark F.

Hi If you check the Brennan website they recommend the chipset you need to look for, you will find the advice below on this page https://www.brennan.co.uk/itemcontent.php/content/Troubleshooting, i guess the ones you bought were not based on the recommended one.
If you search Amazon for "RT5370" you will find several compatible devices. The antenna delivers about 100x more power.

Hi to both of you who responded, you both gave me the right solution, i bought the unit recommended by Mark, plugged in and off it went, i think the real problem her was that B2 only sees 2.4GHz, this dongle was on only one frequency 2.4 GHz.

Hi Mark,
Does the Eastech dongle you suggested allow the antenna to be positioned vertically when plugged into the rear of the B2? It appears some models have a limited rotation so the antenna is either pointing downwards or has to be horizontal, pointing out behind the B2.

Hi, Paul,
The Eastech dongle has only about a 90-degree range of rotation, but fortunately it points UP when plugged into the B2.
I still think that a 1-foot USB extension cable made more of a difference to my wifi connection than changing dongles.
