iphone app automatically installed which has killed the inferface. I get a black screen with icons for playing, browse, Radio, and YouTube at the bottom. There is no link to the UI or to Settings. I can get stuff to play using the app but the control is missing (play/stop; forward/back, mute, shuffle buttons missing) as is the details of the song playing and cover art. The playing button does nothing and YouTube does not find the music stored on the B2.   I have reinstalled the app several times and updated the B2 software and rebooted to no avail. I have an iphone SE running the latest software.

All in all an atrocious "upgrade".  Does anyone know how to revert to the previous app releases, which worked perfectly
cheers

Hi NTurner,

I have suggested you try restarting the phone (as a reply to your other post).

Let me know if it helps.

Paul,

It might solve my problems if you linked this post to 'the other post':

I've got the same mobile UI problem - just restarted my phone to be told my 'Safari cannot open the page.. iPhone is not connected to the internet' etc (which it is).

I've scanned the disk
checked the IP settings
restarted my phone

Still not working.

Works ok on MacBook which runs Jan 21 software

I've just downloaded the new iPhone app, it failed to find my B2 automatically so I manually entered the IP address - still not finding it. Great!

This is important " 'Safari cannot open the page.. iPhone is not connected to the internet' etc (which it is)."
What this is saying is that your iPhone is not making a proper connection to your router and then the internet. Is Safari can not make a connection then neither can the B2.
Trouble shoot your iPhone issues first. Once these are sorted then go back to connecting to the B2.

Hi there.
I have had the current iPhone app on my iPhone for some time ( 3 months) and it works fine, no issues at all.
I'm not aware of any more recent version of the App
Which OS version is your iPhone using? If it;'s higher than iOS 12 then you should be OK . Mine is running iOS 14.4.1.
if you are running a lower version of iOS then the Brennas iPhone App might not work.

There is a possibility that one of the devices  you are using isn't connected to your own router.
This could be
a) your computer
b) your iPhone
c) your B2

YOu said all your devices are connected to the internet , but are you sure your iPhone is connected to your WiFi? If it isn't and is using mobile data then you will not be able to connect to the B2.

How to check

1) Using your computer  connect to the log in page of your router  via a web browser on your computer.    It should have an address such as 192.168.x.abc ( where the letters are variable. All the devices you are using should be using an IP address begining  192.168.x  If you don't know the router IP address then you will find it  either on the router case or in its documentation .
2) Log in to the router via a computer browser using the log in details with the user name and password provide in the documentation
3) Most routers will have an area where you can see a full list of all connected devices .
If your iPhone and B2 are connected to your router they will be listed. Most routers will allow you to fix (or reserve) an IP address for a particular device, such as the B2. This means it won't vary and will be easy to locate from a browser or iPhone App.
Persoanlly I think that your iPhone may have become discnnected from your router and is using mobile data, or, your router WiFi signal is weak and the B2 is not making a solid connection, perhaps it is located too far away from the router?
Anyway, good luck

Hi gps,

Thanks for the excellent advice, I've run all your suggested diagnostics, everything checks out ok (& not using mobile data). The only thing I can think is that the router can't cope with the distance (my MacBook is 6ft closer and it's fine🙄) I'll try moving things around tomorrow.

Thanks again.

:)

Just one - in case you have not done so yest, try a hard reboot of your router (ie turn it off at the wall, wait 30 seconds and turn it on again). Sometimes routers lose their little minds!

Problem sorted:

It wasn't the B2, the iPhone or the MacBook - it was the rubbish little BT Router needed to be a foot higher (which kind of makes sense) it's now in my peripheral vision and bugging the hell out of me.

We did not think it was the B2 - sorry your router is bugging you - (tis funny though)!

No, I didn't think it was the B2.

I've lost the web UI on the MacBook now, the app still works tho

Hi Nigel,

What WiFi signal level are you getting at the B2 - use the front control to navigate to the Maintenance menu and select 'WiFi Strength' - it needs to be in the -50 to -60dBm range for a reliable connection?

Thanks Paul -41 to -49.
That's annoying because it had been working fine on the MacBook until I moved the router higher so the new iPhone app would work, I suppose you're going to tell me to buy a new dongle with an aerial?

Not sure about a dongle with an aerial, I tried one and it didn't work at all. However, putting the dongle on an extension cable has made a big difference for me. I think it's a combination of moving the dongle away from the B2 and locating it closer to the router that makes the difference.

Hi Nigel,

Your WiFi signal looks OK so shouldn't be necessary to update the dongle. Have you tried the web UI on the MacBook i.e. use a browser page and IP Address to access the web UI? Might be worth a try to see how stable it is.

Hi Paul,

Yes, I've tried the web UI on the MacBook (I've even cleared out the cache and manually entered the IP address) it just says 'Safari can't open the page... the server stopped responding' etc

Have you tried hard rebooting your router? If not power it down then up again. Sometimes routers get "confused" and do strange things!

Yes, thank you. I switched the router off before I moved it higher up.

Oh, that's interesting. The iPhone app has lost the connection again, it 'sees' the IP address and tries to connect but has frozen

The iPhone app functionality is there but no music, all the music is listed on the Brennan ok?

Hi Nigel,

Tried the iPhone app this morning and it wouldn't connect to my B2 - powering the phone off and on fixed it.

I'm using an iPhone 6S with 14.4.1 software.
