SanDisk portable SSD not recognised by B2

Hello. I have previously successfully backed up our Brennan B2 to a Seagate 2Tb hard disk. We then use that in our motorhome, playing through the Zenec system. It's pretty good, although the Zenec takes several minutes to find all the tracks to allow them to play randomly.

Unfortunately, large potholes (very rare in England these days!!) cause the hard disk to jump and disconnect. I decided to buy a solid state hard drive and got a SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD, also 2Tb.

Plugged it into the Brennan and went to USB functions to back up to the new SSD drive, but it says the menu is not available until I plug something in. Am I doing something wrong, or is the new drive not compatible?

The problem could be that the SanDisk SSD needs to be formatted to 'FAT32' to enable the B2 to see it.  These larger SSDs (and HDDs) usually arrive formatted to 'exFAT' which the Brennans cannot see.

Plug the SSD drive into the USB C port on the B2.  Then you can do the format from the front panel of the B2 by selecting 'Main Menu' --> 'Settings' -- 'Maintenance' --> 'Format USB C'.

This will run for a few minutes.  When complete, the B2 should then see the SSD drive and you should be able to run an Export to it.
