I have used Classical mode for some time. Recently, the B2 has taken to ending an album, abruptly, about ten seconds before the true end. Any ideas how i can correct this?

Does it do that on albums that have previously played through to the end? Does it do that on some albums but not others, or on every album?

If it's just a few, but not the rest, it could be the rip was unsuccessful on those few albums.  I would delete them and try to rip again.  Do one at a time, compress, and then play.

It happens on every album, some of which I have played successfully many times in the past, until this recent problem.

If you haven't done this already, do the following:
Settings > Maintenance> Cleanup
Settings > Scan Disk

Thanks for that. I carried out all of your suggestions but, unfortunately, album end still occurs 13 seconds before the true ending.

That's started happening to me as well; always the last track on the album comes to a sudden stop. Doesn't appear to be a recording issue; if I play the track straight off the disk in Media Player Classic it plays to the end.

Yes, I’m experiencing the same thing in Classical Mode. At he end of the last track of an album, the musuc ends abrubtly. Not 10 seconds but a second or maybe just a fraction of a second early. It’s very noticeable.

Yes, in fact the time, from the very end, does vary but it is very sudden and, as I said before, has only happened over the past month or so.

At this point, I can only guess what the problem might be.  So we will have to wait for somebody to post who knows more about it.

I have been having the same experience of late. Last track on album truncates a few seconds early. Quite startling.

Hi All

I've tried to replicate this but I didn't hear it on the one album I listened to. Either with Segue on or Off.

Do the tracks you refer to have loud(ish) music to the very end.

B2 may be muting the power amp too early and I didn't hear it because the track had faded naturally

No, it happens on loud and quiet endings. Previous to this occurring, albums finished quite normally. Would it be worth me cancelling Classical mode and then reapplying it? For information, I am not using the digital output. I have used clean up and scan disk to no avail.

Hi

I've just noticed this problem too, after the last software update (not that I load every release, and I haven't listened to many albums all the way through lately). Track volume varies. I'm using Classical mode, Random Off. All albums are 192kB MP3s. I'm using the Line output, so not sure if power amp would affect that. It seems to me that it doesn't always happen on every album I listen to, so maybe if Martin only listened to one he won't have heard it. I'm not sure I've been able to heard it on tracks found using Search on the remote, only on albums selected using the GUI, and only on the last track, and I've tried quite a few, starting the album then picking the last track using the GUI and skipping to near the end to save time.

Regards

Hi again

While trying to hear which tracks lose their ending, I noticed that once the last track in the album has finished, if I click on the timeline in the top left hand corner and press play, a new album starts playing, rather than the same track replaying. Sometimes the next album, sometimes something quite different. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this a bug, or a feature, like the way a random artist's albums appear in the top right hand pane on startup?

Regards

Me again. I’ve just experimented by playing the end of the same album a number of times. The strange thing is that the abrupt cut off occurs quite randomly anything from ten to twenty+ seconds for the same track.

Hi All,

Martin has posted a new software version which addresses the abrupt ending issue. Please try it and post any comments.

The release also addresses -

Playlists that won't delete
YouTube history increased from 200 to 1000
Don't compress 24 bit WAV files.

On first trials, the problem of the abrupt ending, in Classical mode, seems to be resolved. Many thanks for attending to this.
