Hi! At the moment my CD player is connected to my amp with red and white rca cable. Would I be able to do exactly the same from the B2 to the amp or is it different? Thanks

Yes, you can do the same thing with your B2.  The B2 end of the cable requires a 3.5 mm plug.

The Line Output jack on the back of the B2 is double duty.  You can also choose to plug a mini Toslink optical cable in there and connect the other end to an external DAC, or the DAC that some receivers have already on board.  This latter option will provide even better sound quality.

Hi Andrews...,

You'll need a cable like this -

Hi Andrew,

While the above will work fine, MANY of us have taken a slightly different path.

I found this gave a better result that I could hear - even with my 70 year old ears.

It would be nice to be able to change the JackSense via the Web Interface.  I dont always want to have to use my externally connected amp

Hi Knights,
I am puzzled by your request.
I assume you have both directly wired speakers and a line out connection from your B2 to your amplifier
I can see that if you don't want to use the speakers directly wired to the B2 but still use speakers/headphones connected to your amplifier then you have to switch Jack Sense
to mute the directly wired speakers but if you want to only use the directly wired speakers can you not just switch the amplifier off / switch it to a different input ?
What am I missing ?

...I was thinking that if the output to the external amp is optical, there's also an option to set the B2 volume at zero (which has no effect on the output) to hear only the speakers connected to the amp. Leave the external amp off and turn the B2 volume up for the directly wired speakers only. Turn the external amp on and B2 volume up to hear both. All with Jack Sense off.

The "line out" and the "optical out" share the same socket.
With "line out" in use the B2's volume controls work on this.
With "optical out" in use the B2's volume controls have no effect on this.
With "directly connected speakers" in use/plugged in, the B2's volume controls work on these.
Thus given this :-

With jack sense set to mute the wired speakers - you could only listen to the B2 optically.
With jack sense set not to mute the wired speakers - you would hear the B2 optical connection AND the wired speakers (if their volume was UP)
However, with jack sense set not to mute the wired speakers - you would hear the B2 optical connection but NOT the wired speakers (if their volume was DOWN)

Do you need more?
