I've bought a Sony PS-LX300 USB turntable. Can I play back via the USB cable inserted into the B2's USB socket or do I need to find an adaptor to convert the phono plugs to a 3.5mm aux socket?

I did try inserting the USB cable, but I got lost in the BS2's settings.

I should add that the phono output plugs have a switch alongside that is switchable from phono to line.

The turntable's USB output is for connecting to a computer.  It won't work on the B2, as the B2's USB connectors are outputs.

Yes, you do need to convert the two RCA phono connectors to a single 3.5 plug.

Switch the turntable to the line setting.  That should enable the internal phono preamp to bring the signal to what the B2 expects to see.

if you have recording software with the USB turntable  i would use that on your computer , it will have enhancing functions to clean up clicks etc  and also split up the track of an LP into separate files , The recording process on the B2 is a bit unconventional .  What kind of signal comes from the USB plug of the turntable ?

That would be a digitized signal, ready for the computer to play and record.

the same signal you get from a DAC perhaps ...

No.  A DAC converts digital to analog, for an amplifier or self-powered speakers.

Inside a USB turntable, there is an ADC that converts analog to digital, for the computer.
