According to site, B2 has bass and treble. How do you adjust them?

Michael: on the upper left of the Brennan UI, to the left of the controls, is a musical note/eighth note symbol. Click it and sliders for Bass and Treble should pop up.

As far as I can tell, the Bass and Treble controls are for Increase only, ie sliding the controls all the way to the left is the flat or no-tone-adjustment position. Gradually sliding towards the right increases or boosts Bass and Treble. I might be wrong about this, but to my ears the B2 sounds more natural when the sliders are to the left. For quite a while I played the B2 with the sliders in the middle, thinking that was the "flat" position ... until I tried positioning to the far left. The middle position, to my ears, sounds somewhat unnatural.

Also, I think the Bass and Treble controls only work for when using the Analog output or connected speakers.  They do not work with the digital outputs.

Hi All,

You can change Bass and Treble to a Graphic Equaliser by using - Settings > Maintenance > Advanced > Get EQ.

And I, for one, can thoroughly recommend the equaliser. I play the B2 direct into a pair of Mission bookshelf speakers. Before the equaliser release I was seriously considering buying an amp with higher performance. However the equaliser has completely transformed my listening experience, performance is now amazing. Much better than the simple bass and treble control.

Paul: try as I might, I can't find a setting for "Advanced."  I've scrolled through the Maintenance menu several time, but "Advanced" never shows up.

Steve,
What version of B2 software do you have?  The Advanced sub-menu was added in July.

Don't know.  How do I find that out?  Installed the software last week.

If you open up the UI you should see the firmware version under settings. Or use the remote to find out using info, or scroll through the B2 until you find it.

The EQ is the best thing Brennan have done quality wise. It really does improve things.

Hi SMG,

It should be here - Settings > Maintenance > Advanced > Get EQ - this loads the graphic equaliser.

Our Menu Overview page shows where things are.

Suggestion to Paul @ Brennan Support:

This is SO frustrating. I'm trying to find the equalizer (did not know there even WAS an equalizer) and come across your instructions in a post from last October.

I go to Settings > Maintenance  but cannot find Advanced ANYWHERE. Oh, I need to update my software (which had been updated since last July, where you indicated the change was made)-- so I do that part. BUT YOUR menu's  "Web Upgrade" INSTRUCTIONS DID NOT SAY THAT YOU NEED TO REBOOT after updating software, so my "fix" did not work -- or did not take. I eventually tried that on my own accord and therefore found the Advanced menu, finally.

BUT, I had already looked for it on the B2 Menu Summary (on the main website for Brennan) -- and there is no indication on MY overview of an Advanced choice under Maintenance. I see your link, however, and try that -- and VOILA, the Advanced choice IS available on "Menu System New." Why in the world is not Menu System New on the standard Brennan site??? I currently have TWO tabs up on my browser -- Menu System and Menu System New. That should never happen!

IT SHOULD NEVER OCCUR THAT SOME UPDATE HAS BEEN MADE TO THE SOFTWARE OR TO THE SYSTEM OR TO ANYTHING WHERE THAT SAME INFORMATION IS NOT ALSO THE DEFAULT ON YOUR BRENNAN WEBSITE. I've just spent an hour or so trying to find something that you should have posted automatically.

It is hard enough to find information by bouncing back and forth between your website and the Google group, but PLEASE at least keep your website updated properly.

Thanks

I was trying to figure out what Vicki meant about the website not having the Advanced menu, etc.  The official Brennan website, www.brennan.co.uk, does have the Advanced menu.  But the US version, www.thebrennan.com, does not.  The US website has never been accurate in the year and a half that I have been following along.  If Brennan finds it so terribly difficult to update their US website, it would be better to just have it re-direct to the UK site.

Hi Vicki,

Apologies it appears the US site - thebrennan.com - is not so up to date as the UK site - brennan.co.uk. We'll get that sorted.
