Ca't upload with Album details

For ages, I've been uploading files from my hard disk to my Brennan B2

Software Version B2 Jul 21 2020 07:58:58  

As of a few days ago I started getting a message "Folders hidden by browser for security reasons - music uploaded to Artist/Album Unknown".

I'm using Opera as my browser - does anyone know how to avoid this problem?  The same thing happens with Chrome and Firefox which makes me think the problem is not with the browser.

Hi Chris,

There are a number of these issues reported in this forum.  It seems to be a combination of browsers and computer type, with the Apple devices in particular throwing up this message.

If you search for in this forum's  'Search' box for 'Folders hidden' you will see various posts with some solutions suggested.

Thanks, I was trying to upload a single album as a test so I was below the Artist folder level.  Not sure why the browser gives the message it does though.

The answer is to make sure I'm uploading the full folder structure of Artist / Album / Tracks

Found MArtin's reply to this issue -

Martin here - just came across your screenshot - it looks a bit ominous doesn't it - but its my text and its more inconvenience than a serious problem.

What it is - Chrome does not want websites to see any more of your computer than it can possibly allow - and that includes the path to the files you want to upload.

I guess the path could be something like work/topsecretprojectname/music/abba/waterloo,mp3 so chrome delivers the least possible information rather than potentially reveal a secret folder name. If you upload several music files or several albums of music files - then chrome is forced to give the website enough of the path so the website can properly keep the files in the right folders. But sometimes with just one file - Chrome says I'm not going to say what the path was - so the brennan web UI warns you that you may find it uploaded to unknown.

Now that it's been explained it all makes sense - thanks.

I would suggest that perhaps the warning message could be amended to make it sound less of a browser problem and more likely a user issue  :)

Perhaps something along the lines of:

Insufficient information to be able to ascertain the artist details, please ensure the folder structure used is Artist / Album / Tracks.  The browser is unable to divulge folders above the submitted folder.
