Hi all,

I feel like the only time I post here is to moan, but hey, I guess that's what the place is for ;)

I finally feel compelled to report a long-running issue I've been having regarding downloaded music I purchase from various websites. A lot of the music I buy comes from Boomkat and Bandcamp, and in both cases I tend to purchase WAV files because a) they're available and b) I have a B2 that can play them! Trouble is, after transferring said WAV-formatted music to my B2, around 50% of the albums become corrupted after the B2 converts them to FLAC (in particular, every track ends up a harsh white-noise hiss at ridiculously high volume). I've also had trouble playing purchased FLAC files on the B2 - again, they somehow become white noise after transferring to the B2. To get the affected files to play properly on the B2 I have to convert them to mp3 or AAC on my laptop before transferring them over, which negates the point of buying WAV/FLAC files in the first place. Has anybody else had this problem? I would very much appreciate it if somebody could look into this problem, as not being able to reliably play 3rd-party WAV/FLAC files is a waste of the B2's functionality.

Other irritating issues plaguing my B2 at present:

1) Random mode seems to turn itself on for no reason whatsoever (usually after rapid track-skipping, album-changing or other things I ask the B2 to do)

2) Albums seem to stop playing entirely, again at random. I can fast forward to the next song and it'll play, but then play will keep stopping after every track until a scan disk/reboot is performed.

3) Uploading albums via the web interface fails irritatingly often; the larger the album filesize-wise, the more likely it is to fail. I circumvent this by using ssh and scp via my laptop (which I don't mind doing and never fails to work!) but this problem must nevertheless irritate those without the ability or knowledge to control the B2 via a Unix/Linux command line.

Here's hoping there's a fix to these issues and everything else others are struggling with; I love my B2 because it handles my 3000+ album music collection better than anything else I've found, but alas, it's far too tetchy and bug-ridden to make me recommend it to anybody.

Hi Mil

I strongly suspect the .wav files are not "native" B2 .wav format hence the issue when converted to .flac, I had this exact issue with some .wav files I got from a friend, I fixed the issue by using audacity on my laptop to convert the files to .flac and then sending them to the B2, they play perfectly.

Hello Mil

Martin Brennan here - it sounds like the wav files you bought either have a tag or have a different format to what B2 expects.

Could you email in with a sample or a link to a sample on Google Drive or similar and I'll take a look. It may not be in the next couple of weeks but it should be easy enough for B2 to detect and ignore "foreign" files.

I don't believe this has come up before - where did you get the wav files?

Just for info, I buy a lot of music albums as FLAC files from Bandcamp, and they all play really well on my B2, so as others have previously suggested, it may be the wavs from these type of sources may not be standard.  Hope you get it resolved.
