Having been inspired by all the messages to try to set up NAS for a B2 that I've had for quite sometime I have just successfully done this.

I only had one problem following an initial failure and that was because I had not started NAS on the B2 unit (Menu-Settings-Maintenance-Start NAS). After doing that it was networked in a few minutes. I used the File Explorer - This PC - Map Network method.

I don't think that I've seen that procedure mentioned in the messages so could it be contributing to the issue.

Now a question for myself. Having networked is it possible to amend and save the folder entries (eg. track and/or album titles) on the networked PC or does that still have to be done via the web UI.

Thanks and regards

Bryan

Brian, I rip or download all my CDs/albums via my Windows 10 laptop. I then do any editing prior to transferring to my B2. I keep one copy of the album on my laptop in an assigned music folder (Back copy 1) transfer one to an external drive (Backup copy 2) and transfer another to the B2 via NAS. Always run Scan Disk on the B2 after adding new material to rebuilt the B2's music library and keep it up to date. There are different programs available to use for ripping on PCs. Windows Media Player can also rip to FLAC and mp3 now. Most of my new music is downloaded to FLAC.

Always make sure you keep the folder structure of Artist/Album/Tracks so the B2 can process them.

Thank you.
Just to clarify, any album(s) added to the NAS folder on the PC/Laptop, or an existing album edited, will be taken into, and reflected in the B2 structure.
I always Scan Disk after any additions or amendments.
Up to now I've always ripped using the B2. I know it's slow, just didn't try any alternative.

Hi Bryan

Yes, having got NAS working, you can edit/amend titles on your PC/Laptop instead of using the UI. However, here is the important bit. . .  . . .  . . . . .  .you must run ScanDisk after you finish so that the B2 can update itself on the changes you have made.

Thanks Chris.
Scan Disk is something that I always do.

Bryne, try an album/CD. Start small to be happy it works ok. Play around with one album. Do some edits, run scan disk and check they show up on the UI.
