I have several external cd drives, the acutal drives are all made by H L (susiduary of Hatachi I believe) and they all rip at different speeds, my oldest is the fastest (averages 16x- to well over 24x)   the newest is the slowest   3x to to about 16-18x average gets as high as 24 x very only ocassionally. (Time wise the older one takes at least half the time  or less to rip)  Do I have to worry about the faster one creating errors, or does the Brennan B2 software error correnction compensate no matter what speed.  Can I safely use the fastest one?

Is the qulaity of the rip the same?

thanks
Richard

I'm pretty sure that the actual CD drive takes care of dealing with any errors.  When errors are encountered, the drive will slow down as needed to make sure the read is correct.  Error correction is built into the coded data on the CD.  So it should not matter at what speed the drive reads - it will read as fast as it can and not have any errors.  That is, of course, if the drive is not defective.
