Hi Brennan owners.
I have some questions for you.
What exactly is tagging and why would I want to use it?
What does it do, is it useful, helpful or of limited valiee ..and how can I turn it off if I don't want to use it.
Presumably when I rip a CD it is not Tagged by default. To tag a disc, or all the files on the B2 I initiate the Tag command. I recently was advised to do this, and foolishly I did . I don't know why but I thought I would experiment and see what happened.
After runnign the tagging command I still don't know what the benefit is but I have recognised a distinct problem.
Before tagging I could run a search and find all the albums pertainign to the search term in the Search box. But now if  run search I see dozens of entries that hav naff all to do with my search term? What can I do to get rid of the  pesky Tags?

Thanks
Graham

Tags are basically space reserved inside the music track file where text can be written that describes the music, such as Artist, Album, song title, year of release, music genre, etc.  The Brennan units do not use the tag information, so there's no need for it with Brennan units.  Many people want the tagging information so that it can be used by other devices, say in the case of NAS or Sonos.  Personally, although I don't currently use the tag information, I make sure it's there just in case I ever need to access my music that way in the future.

As for your current problem, it seems unlikely that just tagging an album would be the cause.  It seems more like it was a coincidence with your SD card software being corrupted.

The only way that I know of to remove the tag info is to do it manually via NAS.  I believe you have to have a program that can read and write tags to do it.  I don't personally know which such programs might be native to any OS.  But I know mp3tag can do it, and I think that's a free download.

The Tagging function on the B2 is marked as experimental. I once tried it and it never seemed to finish!
However, It may have changed things on your HDD.
I would recommend that you do a "Scan Disk" and see if this brings things back to normal.
