My B2 has the wifi dongle (supplied)plugged into socket C. The google wifi  right beside it reports "good connection". B2 reports "no network". I don't understand why B2 wont connect. Can anyone help?

I've gone to Maintenance > Retry wifi = failed.

Try resetting the WiFi from the maintenance section "Reset WiFi". Also please reboot your Router first.

It's possible that your WiFi dongle is bad.  However, before coming to that conclusion, let's try a couple of things:
Run the Reset WiFi command (Maintenance menu).  The Brennan website recommends plugging the WiFi dongle into USB A.  Power down, switch the dongle to USB A, wait another 20 seconds, and power up again.  Try the Setup WiFi command.  Does the display show available networks?  If it shows your network - the SSID of your router - go ahead and complete the WiFi setup process.  Either way, please report back here what you find.

The USB B slot is non-functional for any device.  It was only there for early units that did not have an internal hard disk drive.  The internal HDD now uses USB B, and the latest models do not have that port shown on the back panel.

Hi jsmcl...,

What  is the 'google wifi' device and what is its function?  If it is a Google Mesh device then that could be part of the problem.

Also, as Daniel has stated, the USB B port should not be used as this is used by the B2's internal HDD or SSD.  USB B is normally blanked off with a blanking plug and should be left that way.  Trying to use this port with other USB devices could cause the internal HDD/ SDD to become corrupted.

What version of software is your B2 running on?  From the B2's remote control, press the 'Info' button twice and you will see a line 'Version .............' .  If you post that here then that will help.

Regards,
Peter.

Sounds like a bad wifi dongle, but just to be sure, what sort of house Router do you have and are you sure it is broadcasting a SSID on the 2.4 Ghz band?

Thinking I might have to replace the dongle, looked online and found that the stick antenna might not be, as I thought, the Bluetooth dongle I plugged it into A. Bingo. Al seems good now. Am mystified though re the little usb thing labelled V5.0 is though. Another wifi dongle? A bluetooth dongle?

Hi jsmcl...,

The dongle marked V5.0 is a Bluetooth device.  The stick antenna is the Wifi device.

Good news that you are now up and running now!

Regards,
Peter.
