SD card contents?

I have received a new SD card to replace the possible corrupt B2 SD card that is in my B2.  When I change the card, what am I losing?  Settings, WiFi data, etc?  I just want to be clear before I swap the card out.  I would think a backup is strongly advised.  When I do the backup is the user’s data on the SD card part of the backup?

Update on my reported B2  freezing issue.  I am happy to report that I have had all day sessions with out an issue, since my original posting.  I have discovered that the freezing tends to happen early (20 -45 minutes) in a playing session, however, in the last week I think I only had only one freeze event in possibly 12-14 sessions over about 80 total hours of playing time.  I am currently only in a playing mode and a non ripping mode with my b2. The trend is clearly in the right direction and that is BEFORE, I have swapped out the SD card.  At this point I’m wondering if I should let a sleeping problem sleep, and not change the SD card unless the problem ramps up again.  So that is why I want to understand what I am disturbing with the SD card swap out.  Thank you in advance.

I don't know all the settings that will be lost when you change SD cards.  I would expect none to be saved, but I seem to recall that some are stored on the HDD now.  Clarification from others would be appreciated.

In your situation, I would replace the SD card with the new one.  (You can always switch back to the old one if you want.)  Then see if the problems are gone, or still there.  Give it a week, or longer if you want.  Then if the problems are gone, it must have been the SD card.  If the problems are still there, it might be that you'll have to send your B2 in for repair or replacement.  But let's not get ahead of ourselves.  If it comes to that, we'll work with you to figure out what's what.

Hi mangano...,

Your music collection and all of the B2's settings are stored on the B2's internal HDD.  This means that you can swap the SD cards and all of the B2's settings (including Wifi connections and passwords) are preserved after the new card is installed.

The contents of the SD card are not saved in the Export backup.  Only the music content is backed up in the Export.

If you haven't run an Export backup you should do this as soon as possible, so that your music collection is safely secured.

Regards,
Peter.

Ok …I got my nerve up and swapped out the SD card…after updating my last backup…..everything transferred over fine, but I had to pair the b2 with the WiFi network again..it did keep the password…so it was just the need to do the router pairing.

It was a little scary but painless…but the B2 is now up and running.  I’ll put some sessions and hours in the bank to see if we resolved my freeze issue.  I will advise as I get some history on the new SD card.  Thank you for your continued support and advice.
