Hi, i am backing up on a B2 NEARLY 2500 cd's, the unit locks up on occasion which is OK, BUT when i restart it starts to FLAC compress which is annoying as i want all my cd;s to be wav files, i have all my units on None compression but this unit just seems to reset itself to FLAC any ideas out there ?

Here is the only thing I can think of:  Once you have selected None for the Compression method, press and hold the STOP button until the word SAVING appears in the display.  Then, after SAVING goes away, turn off power, wait 30 seconds, and turn power on again.  Check the Compression setting.  Let us know how it goes.

Let us know when you get this set the way you want. Then I can ask: why would you prefer WAV to FLAC? There's ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE in playback quality, it's just that WAV is approximately twice the size. The 'L' in FLAC stands for "lossless": a FLAC file will always expand to the same bits that were in the WAV from which it was made.

The only reason I can think of that makes sense is that the B2 takes some time to do the conversion to FLAC, and it doesn't like doing anything else while it's doing that. Apart from that, there's no downside and you save half the space (and thus half the time transferring copies when you make backups). Maybe I'm missing something important here...
